Today on Antenna they showed a Season 1 episode and then a season 5 episode, as part of the April Fools themed shows.
Season 5 Ann Marie is totally different from Seasons 1 thru 4 A.M. It's more than the hairdo change losing the bangs. She has that "mod" 70s style/look, sans bra, and her makeup is heavier, giving her face a totally different look. Has anyone else noticed the change was this major? All the characters look different. The guys and their longer hair, and Jerry with his foot wide tie. |

I recorded the season 5 episode "Super Reporter" today from Antenna and they showed the tag scene at the end that's deleted on the DVD from Shout Factory.
A few weeks ago I also recorded the season 4 episode "The Night They Raided Daddy's" because I suspect there's something missing from that episode also on the Shout DVD. I haven't checked this airing yet to compare it with the DVD but I plan to do it soon. |

Had I remembered which one it was, I would have recorded it, too. I'll get it next time around.
Please let us know what you find out about the S4 ep. |

I really liked her look in season 5. You could see more of Marlo's face and she is so beautiful. I read that Marlo and Phil are celebrating 40 years of marriage. Congratulations to them.

Agreed. I particularly like her hair, sans bangs. Really beautiful. Also the 70s fashions looked really good on her.
Yep, congrats! |

I checked the season 4 episode The Night They Raided Daddy's, and it appears to be complete on the DVD, 23:35 seems to be the correct run time so I guess when the episode was made it just ran a little shorter than usual. But I'm glad I recorded the Super Reporter episode today since Antenna TV showed the ending/tag scene that's missing on the DVD. |

I'm guessing the missing tag scene for Super-Don (my shortened name) on the DVDs is something that was never missing, just a flat-out error in mastering, that of course will never be corrected, since Shout has headed in a weird, new direction (IMO).
The 23:35 time seems as strange as some of the S3's of LITB. Are you comparing it to the Antenna episode? I would assume the DVD would have more than Antenna. |

Those shorter season 3 episodes of LITB remain a mystery, I'm starting to believe that the majority of those are complete but wouldn't be surprised either if some are edited. |

I've always liked the way girls looked in the '70''s with long straight hair parted in the middle But I guess I am just too used to Ann Marie with bangs to like it. I preferred her bangs and hair that curled at the end. It was cute. But for other girls, long hair parted in middle, it's great!
Also last week I saw an episode of Joey Bishop Show that looked like it could have been the pilot, as characters all seemed to be being introduced. At any rate what I liked about it was that it was shot in the early '60's, maybe '61 or '62 and it was in beautiful COLOR!! And getting back to why I bring this up, a very young and cute Marlo Thomas IN COLOR was there as Joey's sister also in COLOR was Mrs. Mondello/Florrie (from Real McCoys) it was great to see a vintage early '60's show in color. It was also great to actually like Joey's character in this early rendition of his show. He was portrayed as a nice guy helping out his family while still struggling. The later shows when he no longer lived at home with family and was now supposed to be a superstar who's ass had to be kissed by all those that surrounded him make me ill. They should have changed the name to Joey & His Lackeys. I really didn't like the changes they made to that show once they turned Joey into a big stahh overnight. |

Two things about LITB (apologize, off topic):
1. Other than my pet peeve episode, June's Birthday, the short episodes appear to be complete--no glaring, obvious edits, but a few places where it looks suspicious. All the episodes have great (what I call) continuity--no blatently obvious chops, like you'd see wathcing a season 12 episode of My Three Sons. 2. A trader contact who knows someone who was involved with the production of the LITB DVD set (this is a known name but I can't repeat it) says there were a lot of problems with producing that set. And my bet is season 3 was at the center of that, for some reason--but no confirmation on that. Probably something that we'll never know, but it is very strange that virtually all episodes are 25+ minutes, except a handful of episodes from season 3. |

Joey was one of the few shows that started in BW, switched to color for 2 seasons, and switched networks and went back to BW (another show like that was Wagon Train). |

I also agree about the storyline of S1 of Joey, with the wonderful Madge Blake and the very funny Joe Flynn. But in the color seasons they added annoying managers (the first one of whom didn't get along with King Joey and was summarily dispatched) and a long cadre of annoying guest stars (big mouths like Jan Murray and Buddy Hackett)(only my opinion, so calm down!). I think season 4 changed direction again, and was somewhat better, other than the return to BW.

One season 3 episode I suspect might be edited is School Sweater. About mid way into the episode Wally says to Ward/June that he and Beaver are going to dig up the gopher in the yard, and he says it in a way that sounds like the gopher was mentioned earlier in the episode, but there is no mention, so I speculate something might be edited from this episode. |
