Just ahead of its Sunday premiere, BBC America has given an early second season renewal to its critically praised drama series "Killing Eve", from Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Starring Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) and Jodie Comer (The White Princess) and based on the novellas by Luke Jennings, "Killing Eve" centers on two women; Eve (Oh) is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade security services operative whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy.

Villanelle (Comer) is an elegant, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. These two fiercely intelligent women, equally obsessed with each other, go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse.





“This show has the thunder of women on both sides of the chase in Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer and, importantly, behind the camera with the lavishly brilliant Phoebe Waller-Bridge,” said Sarah Barnett, President, BBC America.

"Killing Eve" Sets New Series Highs for Rare 3-Week Ratings Growth Streak

Well received new drama series "Killing Eve" is becoming a breakout hit for BBC America.

The show’s third episode, which aired Sunday, hit a new series high, drawing 758,000 total viewers in Live+3. That’s up 10% from week 2 and up 95% vs Live+Same day. In the network’s target adults 25-54 demo, the week 3 episode drew 296,000 L+3 viewers, up 13% from the prior episode and up 116% vs L+SD.




"Killing Eve" has now posted double-digit ratings increases among total viewers adults 25-54 (as well as adults 18-49) in both Week 2 and 3, becoming the only new drama on ad-supported TV this season to post consecutive growth over its first 3 weeks.

Additionally, its L3 % lifts have consistently gone week-to-week in viewers and 25-54.




“It’s pretty amazing, it’s not the sort of behavior that is remotely typical in the TV business today,” said BBC America president Sarah Barnett.

“It’s a show that critics and fans have taken to heart and have really enjoyed and really loved. I think this is all about an incredibly strong word of mouth, I think that’s why we are seeing this unprecedented three-week trend and long may it continue.”

"Killing Eve" Sets New Ratings Highs, Extends Demo Growth Streak Heading into Finale

BBC America’s breakout drama "Killing Eve" hit another set of Live+3 series highs for its penultimate episode last week — 986,000 total viewers, 455,000 adults 25-54, and 367,000 adults 18-49 — to head into its Season 1 finale on Sunday on a streak of seven consecutive weeks of demo ratings growth (adults 18-49 and 25-54), going back to the series premiere.

That is a first for a scripted series on television in more than a decade, per the network.




Across seven weeks, "Killing Eve" grew a total of +47% in total viewers, +90% in adults 25-54 and +94% in 18-49 from its April 8 premiere in L+3 ratings.

Save for a little blip in total viewers, with Episode 5 off by +1% from Episode 4, the show has been growing in every major ratings category each week of its run so far (in cable’s recognized L+3 metric; there have been two week-to-week slips in Live+same day).

BBC America’s breakout drama "Killing Eve" has continued its surge in weekly ratings growth, wrapping its first season with new highs in Live+3. The season finale drew 1.25 million viewers, up 86% from its premiere, with 545,000 adults 25-54 and 378,000 adults 18-49 — up 127% and 100% from the premiere, respectively.

The season finale was up over its penultimate episode, which drew 986,000 total viewers, 455,000 adults 25-54, and 367,000 adults 18-49 and was also the No. 1 most social drama of the day.



The series also continues its week-to-week growth on BBCA’s digital platforms and now ranks as the network’s No. 1 digital series ever with more than 1 million full episode views to date.

In addition, the premiere has become the most watched digital episode in network history.

The streaming service has secured the exclusive SVOD rights to "Killing Eve", sources confirm to TVLine, with all eight Season 1 episodes hitting Hulu later this year.

"Killing Eve" Season 2 Gets April Premiere Date on BBC America

BBC America has slotted an April 7 premiere date for the second season of its critically praised thriller series "Killing Eve".

In Season 2, Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer reprise their critically-acclaimed performances as Eve (Oh), an MI6 operative, and psychopath assassin Villanelle (Comer) in this story of two women, bound by a mutual obsession and one brutal act.




Beginning just after the end of the final episode of season one, Villanelle has disappeared, and Eve is left reeling, having no idea if the woman she stabbed is alive or dead. With both of them in deep trouble, Eve has to find Villanelle before someone else does… but unfortunately, she’s not the only person looking for her.

AMC will simulcast season two of BBC America’s "Killing Eve" when the series returns in April, AMC Networks announced today. The series stars recent SAG Award winner Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer.

On the heels of its Season 2 premiere, BBC America has ordered a third season of critically acclaimed series "Killing Eve".

In addition, in keeping with its tradition, the show will pass the baton to a new female writing voice – season one lead writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge handed lead writing to Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Women) for season two, and British writer Suzanne Heathcote (Fear the Walking Dead) is coming aboard as lead writer and showrunner/executive producer for season three.




"Killing Eve" finished its first season with an unbroken record of weekly ratings growth in the key adults 25-54 and 18-49 demos – a first for a TV show in Nielsen live+3 ratings.

BBC America Renews Assassin Drama "Killing Eve" for Season 4

"Killing Eve" has been renewed by BBC America for a fourth season — months before Season 3 has dropped.

The acclaimed drama will run into 2021. No showrunner for Season 4 has been set.




“How could we not have massive confidence in Killing Eve?” said Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios. “It has won big in every major award show and is the highest-growing show on U.S. television for six years.”

Executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle added, “It is testament to everyone involved that we have been picked up so early — the magnificent actors, writers, directors and production team.”
