Default Jo's Pizza

I liked this one and have absolutely zero recollection of it at all. The funniest bit was when Mrs. Garrett walks into the kitchen, gets a face full of flour and just turns around and walks back out.

You can practically read her mind saying "I'm not going to even bother!"

Back at Eastland she'd be like "Girrrrrrrrrls!! What is going ON HERE??!"

But now I guess she's letting them fend for themselves since they're older.

What's interesting is I was watching the layout---there's a bench to the right of the back patio doors with 3 pictures above it, and when you're watching the kitchen set, the entrance at the back of the set shows the same bench and hanging pictures.

So, we know as soon as they turn left from the living room, they're at the back of the kitchen, but the door to the store is on the left side of the stage. By the way it's shown, that door should be at the 4th wall where we're looking in.

Where it is makes no sense according to the layout....that door would be going outside to the street!

Fun episode though. I liked it.....The computer dating one came next and that was just meh.

I love how they use Rose's image for the boxes.

Could be that, and since she realizes this is their own little "side business" they're in charge of.

Hmm, no, if I'm following you right, the store door would still be toward the left, actually toward the back of the stage, not in the 4th wall (we may have to digitally draw visual aids to share, lol).

Yes, fun episode, but it really bothers me how Natalie takes all of her best friend's money and invests it without even asking first. Sheesh!!

Not the store front door, but the swinging door leading from the kitchen into the store. By the layout being shown, that door would logically be where the 4th wall was while we were watching the pizza episode. It wouldn't be on the left side of the screen, that's where a window to outside would be.

It's hard to describe unless you're watching the scene and reading this at the same time lol.

lol, well I'm picturing it in my head, because I know the show. The way I'm thinking of it, the swinging door should go the left side of the stage (from our viewpoint). I might have to do up a diagram and show later to show you how I mean.

I like when JO says (referring the pizza box): "mum, stop looking at me!"

Yes, ideally it should be on the left which is where it was. The swinging door that is.

BUT....in the living room was a bench to the right of the front door in the back along the wall near the back patio doors. You can see that same bench in the entrance when they walked into the kitchen, which leads you to realize that when they made the turn from the LR to kitchen, that's the entrance.

SO...along that layout...the swinging door would be on the opposite wall from the entrance, which is where the camera was for our viewpoint. From that viewpoint, what should've been on the left of the screen was a window to the side street. (I know it sounds complicated!)

UNLESS....they had the same kind of bench in a little hall when they made the turn from LR to the kitchen, and then made ANOTHER left into the kitchen. That would then make the swinging door on the left logical.

It is complicated!

I don't understand when you say "a bench to the right of the front door in the back along the wall near the back patio doors". That would make the bench on the right wall, not the back wall. And on the opposite side of the door under the stairs.

Here's a set pic. See those 3 hanging pictures to the left of the front door? Below them is a wooden bench. Now, when the girls walk into the kitchen the entrance is directly opposite from the camera view, which puts it along the back wall of the kitchen stage.

When looking through that entrance into the kitchen from the camera's view, we see part of that same bench and hanging pictures. So that shows that the kitchen entrance is an immediate left off the living room.

So, from the camera's viewpoint, looking directly towards that entrance, to the left of the camera view should be either a window out to the side street or a wall.
But what's there is the swinging door leading into the shop and from the camera's viewpoint, that door would be where the camera is and not the left wall from it's viewpoint.

Here's the pic--

I'm explaining it so complicated. The swinging door to the shop from the kitchen should logically be directly opposite from the wall with those 3 pictures by the door, but when inside the kitchen the swinging door is placed along the same wall as the patio doors are making it actually lead outside!

You have to watch that scene I think to get it because I don't think i'm explaining it easy lol.

While searching for a set pic, I came across this interesting video. Has anyone seen this before? It looks like claymation lol, but so cool!

It has been a little confusing trying to follow all of the language, but I pretty much get what you're saying now, lol. Only:

I don't think so. When we're in the kitchen, isn't the bench wall at the very back wall facing toward us? If so, when in the kitchen, the swinging door is in the left wall. So they're not "facing each other." I'm thinking if you're sitting on that bench, you get up, walk past the patio doors on your right side, and you're entering the kitchen from the back. Okay, But the swinging door is not in front of you; that's where the audience is. You have to turn to your right to go through the swinging door.

Right??

Which puts you in the right-hand side yard.

They really didn't think this through when designing the kitchen set!

YES! EXACTLY!! That swinging door IS opposite from the bench wall. Look at it this way. The bench wall is the right side of the house and the swinging door is the left side of the house, therefore facing each other.

Now, the camera is standing where that swinging door SHOULD be on that left side because it directly faces that right bench wall through the kitchen entrance while filming.

So...by doing that there should be NO visible swinging door to the shop becasue the camera is filming along that wall. But they placed the door to the wall on it's left which logically puts it along the back wall to the side street.

I'm thinking if you're sitting on that bench, you get up, walk past the patio doors on your right side, and you're entering the kitchen from the back. Okay, But the swinging door is not in front of you; that's where the audience is. You have to turn to your right to go through the swinging door

But in the show's universe there is no audience lol. When you'd get up from that bench, you would walk straight into the kitchen, and if you kept walking straight, you'd go through the swinging door into the shop. A straight line from bench wall through kitchen, through swinging door and into shop. Straight line from point A to B.

The kitchen is between the stairs and on the right of the stairs is that bench wall and on the left of the stairs is the swinging door to the shop.

From the camera point of view in the pizza show, it was placed where the swinging door is looking out into the LR to the bench wall, so the swinging door would in no way be to the left of it.

I wish there was a you tube scene of it so I can insert it here so you can see. I know i'm explaining this in such a complicated way!

This is the only thing I can find and the shot is terrible. It's a screenshot of a Daily Motion clip of the scene. You can see the bench through the doorway of the kitchen entrance, and the swinging door to the shop is on the left of that stainless steel fridge.
Looking at it now, it has to be a little hallway because it doesn't look like the same bench as I thought. So it now seems when they turn from the LR into the kitchen, there's a small hall there, and then they make ANOTHER turn into the kitchen making the swinging door where it is logical!

I think I solved it LOL! The camera is then in the same position as it would be if it were in front of the stairs. With a little hallway there, it all pieces together now.

Well I appreciate the efforts!

But I don't think you're right. If you see the bench at the back of the kitchen set, the swinging door is a "right turn" from it.

Okay, so I've finally doctored up a diagram to help explain what I mean. So the swinging door basically in the same wall as the patio door--WHICH, by the way, thank you for this whole discussion, because I always thought there was a "secret back door" from the street into the kitchen once they start entering from that little left-hand hidden entrance, but when I started doctoring up my diagram I realized THEY WERE USING THE PATIO DOORS!! I NEVER KNEW!! So thank you for indirectly having me discover that! WOW! (I'm gonna think about this when I go to bed! LOL!)

Okay, so, my diagram: See, the "large mapping" is how the building exists according to the kitchen having been introduced.

But, it's impossible! Because when you go through the swinging door into the shop, you turn LEFT to go into the living room---which is the "small mapping": where the living room would be if you go by the shop's rules, not by the kitchen's rules. Does that make sense??
