Bobby Sherman/Sal Mineo - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was surprised to read that Bobby Sherman was "discovered" by actor Sal Mineo. I never knew this, until I saw photos of a very young Bobby at Hollywood parties, always escorting Sal. Has anyone else heard this?

On a side note, why is it you never hear Bobby's music on oldies stations. He had a ton of hit records,but you never hear them today (with the possible exception of "Julie, Do Ya Love Me?")
