GetTV will start airing "Peter Loves Mary" with Peter Lind Hayes and Mary Healy next month. The show originally ran one season, 1960-1961 on NBC.

They seem to do a lot of one season shows and they do a few episodes of shows like Sonny and Cher. I wish they'd air all the episodes.

I never heard of this show either BUT I will be anxiously waiting for it. I love shows from the '60s. Peter Lind Hayes I've seen on What's My Line or is it To Tell The Truth on the Buzzer channel.
Now as long as they're interested in off beat one season only shows, I really wish either GET TV or Antenna TV (since they're still showing It's About Time for the 20th time now) I would like to see "Mr. Terrific" or "Captain Nice" or better yet both shows run back to back. Now I remember these two shows when I was a kid in the '60's and I'd love to see them again. Come on GET or Antenna, let's get with it. |

wow These are just the types of shows that should be shown somewhere! There are about a dozen of PLM episodes on youtube, which I have watched. I am looking forward to seeing the rest. It's a fun show to watch.
I usually do not bother, but I may drop gettv a line and thank them for adding shows like this. |

I like that they air these short lived shows, and lesser known ones. And I it seems am not alone in not having heard of this one. Look forward to it.

I am not sure what happened, but PLM is no longer on the schedule. They brought back Jimmy Stewart. I am really disappointed, I hope that PLM has only been postponed.

I recorded the episodes of Peter Loves Mary from GetTV and I'm glad I did because I imagine it's pretty doubtful this series would get an official DVD release.
It's been almost 3 years now since GetTV first started airing the Peter Loves Mary episodes. Airings began on March 20th 2017 and continued for eight weeks with the final airing on May 12th 2017. Of the 32 episodes in the series, GetTV ran 28 of them, episode numbers 2, 20, 23, and 31 are the ones that were skipped. Episode number 1, and numbers 3 thru 13 had two airings and the others had one airing. Then a year later on May 13th 2018, GetTV had a mini-marathon of five Peter Loves Mary episodes, episodes 14 thru 18 were shown. As far as I know, that is the full history of Peter Loves Mary airings on GetTV. Peter Loves Mary episodes were also shown in the UK/Britain on the Performance Channel, this channel does not exist anymore, it went off the air in 2008. The four episodes GetTV skipped, 2, 20, 23, and 31, these were shown on the Performance Channel and I have recordings of them. Quality isn't quite as good as the GetTV airings but at least I have them and was able to complete the series. |

Peter Lind Hayes and Mary Healy were real-life husband and wife. They co-starred in The 5,000 Fingers of Doctor T, a surreal flop written by Theodor Seuss Geisel.

5,000 Fingers of Dr. T. was previously shown on MeTV on the Svengoolie show. I saw the movie, it was strange but fun, interesting to see Peter and Mary in different roles aside from their one season sitcom.

I don't know anything about this show so I looked it up and was stunned to find out that Bea Benaderet played the housekeeper on the series. What a career she had, over the 19 TV seasons between 1950-51 and 1968-69, Bea was a regular on 5 different series covering 17 of the 19 years! Throw in the fact that she was the voice of Betty Rubble during the 61-62 season, and the only season she was not participating in a primetime comedy series was 1959-60.

They were also mystery guests on What's My Line? I just found a DVD, on 12/25/1955.

Aside from Bea Benaderet, another Flintstones connection to Peter Loves Mary is that Alan Reed, voice of Fred Flintstone, appears briefly in the 1st episode of Peter Loves Mary. He's in a scene early in the episode and speaks a few lines.
Another interesting thing about Peter Loves Mary is the actor Howard Smith appears in some episodes in the role of Peter's father in law. Howard Smith would later go on to a more famous role as Mr. Griffin in the Hazel sitcom. |
