TV "The Conners'" Showrunner Says Jackie's Son Andy doesn't Exist

Mystery Surrounding Jackie's MIA Son Andy Finally Solved
by Michael Ausiello
January 8, 2020

"The Conners" fans on perpetual lookout for Jackie’s absentee son can call off their search. Showrunner Bruce Helford tells TVLine that the character of Andy has not made an appearance because, well, he doesn’t actually exist.

We made a conscious decision that certain years were going to be part of the dream that was revealed at the end of the run of the original Roseanne, and [Andy] was part of the dream,” Helford explains.

Andy fell into the same category for us as winning the lottery; it’s something we chose not to acknowledge.

This is really STUPID. Jackie became pregnant with Andy way before the lottery stuff.

Then I guess Fred doesn't exist either?

Yeah, but what I 'm thinking, it was after Andy was born that Jackie started getting really strange! She almost at times seemed mentally ill in the later seasons , now she is out and out wacko! Maybe she got pregnant, was really happy about it than miscarried. Never could really eccept it which sank her into a deep depression, hence crazy later season Jackie ! And Fred could have just up and left her after the miscarrisge adding to her angst !

So to sum it up, Andy wasn 't a dream, he just never came to be ?

Jackie did become a complete goof ball, koo koo bird, loony tune later on. Sad since she was once so smart, interesting and funny.... it was like she had a personality transplant.... the writing for her was atrocious!!

Anyway, if these idiots want to erase Andy, they might as well erase Jerry as well! Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense since Jerry was born AFTER Andy.
What are these fool writers thinking???!!!

That’s stupid. They should have omitted Jerry, too. There were just too many things that centered around Andy.

Exactly. And Jerry is younger than Andy, so I don't get it.

Tampering with a show's timeline is always risky territory, especially on a hit, well-established show. In the case of the ridiculous lottery win season, that's a good timeline to erase!

True, but Jackie was pregnant with Andy before the lottery mess.

Idk why they didn't just cancel the whole thing after firing Roseanne the Conners is a good show but it seems the new writers just wanna mess the whole entire storyline up

So then every episode that featured or mentioned Andy didn’t happen?

Crazy

It just hit me that Laurie Metcalf voiced the mother in Toy Story to Andy. So in some way Andy lives but just in Toy Story land.

They should just do an episode where Child Protective Services takes Andy away from Jackie because she's an insane goofball. Now that's a believable storyline.

Unless they actually say on the show that Jackie has no children, Andy exists, just offscreen. That’s idiotic to erase him because that means everything from Season 06 never happened.

A better way to explain would be to say that Andy chose to live with Fred when he was young, maybe Fred was in a different state at the time. There would have been a bitter court battle and the judge would have sided with Fred. This would explain why no one ever mentions Andy because they know how much it would hurt Jackie and it would also help explain why Jackie is 5X more insane that she was in the original run.
