I didn't because I don't really want it but there have been other out-of-print DVDs that I've paid quite a bit for.

I could kick myself for all the $$$ I spent in the past for DVDs. 75% of what I bought I can now see for free. (On the other hand, who knew this at the time) Nowadays I almost never buy DVDs. I can usually find what I want for free on You Tube or Antenna. The only exception is Best Buy's Black Friday sales. Some decent but not recent movies for $1.99. I bought a bunch as stocking stuffers and 7 for myself. (On another note and topic, The O & H Mill Creek set is still a great buy even though most of its eps are on You Tube. And the Shout sets were worth the price alone to snag those Dave& Sam commentaries.) |

I bought my copy several years ago when it was priced for $29.99 at Hastings. Each episode runs around 50 minutes & there are 25 or 26 episodes on it so I thought that was very reasonable. This is one of my favorite shows but $100.00 is just too much to spend on it.

But back O/T with HCTB, even if the show weren't on Antenna, I wouldn't slam down $100. I do like the show but $35 would be the highest I'd go for a season. But I know that FOR HARDCORE fans, $100 isn't unthinkable. |

I see Ebay scalpers are still selling them at outrageous prices. Would like to see Mill Creek put it to an end if they reissue that first season.

If memory serves, I paid about $35 for Season 1 from Sony (last I checkedover $300 at Amazon) and about the same price for Season 2 from Shout Factory. Although I never paid over $100 for Season 1 of HCTB, I have however paid the following for these classic shows: Star Trek the original 1960's series--the Remastered version from Paramount (computer-generated restored film footage) all 3 seasons of 79 episodes. $130 on sale (originally $299.00) The Trek fans hate it, but I loved it. Better than the Columbia House DVD's, which I spent $19.99 and shipping for monthly by subscription over a 2-year period (over $900 total); they had cheap videotape (absolute worst ever) and poor film prints. I gave the tapes to the Salvation Army after I got the Remastered set. Have Gun Will Travel (50's TV Western)--Seasons 1-3 ($50.00 each, SRP, couldn't get them on sale at the time). Seasons 4-6 I found on sale and paid much less. CBS-Paramount is the distributor. Wild Wild West (60's), my personal favorite, $65 for the complete series including the 70's/80's reunion TV movies (normally $99 SRP), and $40 each for the 4 separate individual seasons prior to that after Columbia House subscriptions first for 50 episodes (2 hour VHS, 2001-03) and Season 1/half of Season 2 on DVD which they stopped when CBS-Paramount decided to release the series themselves in 2004. Buck Rogers In The 25th Century (1979-81) Universal. In 2004, I bought this at Walmart for $74.00. In 2013 it has been re-released as separate Seasons 1 and 2 for under half of that original price. The 2013 release has the Televised Version of the pilot movie as a bonus feature; the 2004 release has the Theatrical Version. Live and learn. I have since learned better. I always pay the lowest price possible now for a DVD set of a classic TV series. And always on sale, not full SRP. But that's nothing. Someone on Amazon wants between $50 to over $150 for a short-lived 1977 series called Quark starring Richard Benjamin (8 episodes) which was released by Sony in 2008 then sold out/discontinued. I found a fan-made copy of the same disc on sell.com for $16 instead, only missing the case with the art work on the cover box. I can live without that, as long as I have the show with a good picture and sound! At those prices, the sellers can keep the "real thing"! |

Maybe Shout Factory can reissue it since they were the ones who released season 2? ![]() I guess I'll just record them off Antenna TV in the meantime. |

Unfortunately, HCTB was never a very popular series so I don't think it will ever be rereleased. I was very surprised it got a dvd release in the first place since only devout fans remembered it. I bought immediately when it was first released and am not tempted to sell mine even at these high prices it goes for now, as it was always one of my favorite shows. |
