I’ve always seen it in the background. Was it ever shown?

Not sure myself. I have only seen the first two seasons and always wanted them to have a scene there just to see what that area of the set looked liked.

^^^ Apparently, that table was never used for anything food oriented. There is an episode in season six which is when Jean-Luc was in the picture and during that episode, Frank and Carol get a visit from Carol's high school best friend and the lady brings her husband with her. Jean Luc is who cooks the meal that the two married couples eat together, but their meal is eaten on the kitchen table. Just Say Maybe is the name of the episode.

In Anniversary from season one we see Carol wrapping a present and in Daddys Girl we see the girls bringing tea over from the table. In Rules we see the girls room.

It would have been nice to see them eat at the table.

Yes it would. I suppose being a sitcom filmed in front of an audience they would have struggled to get cameras in there to cover all the angles. And they had the table in the kitchen which made everything easier.
They could have filmed the birthday bumper opening in there though rather than the kitchen. |
