I discovered a channel called Get TV and I want to know more about it? From what I saw of it Get TV airs Married With Children and other sitcoms. Is Get TV another channel owned by the same company as METV and Heroes And Icons?

No, GetTV is owned by Sony I believe. That’s why it has so many Sony shows.

I don't watch it a lot but I do occasionally. Not a bad station!

I had GetTV briefly in 2015 but it was replaced by Antenna TV by early the next year.

GetTV was useful for me a few years ago when they were still telecasting with a full screen picture, they ran the episodes of the Peter Loves Mary sitcom from 1960-61, I recorded the episodes and put them on DVD's. GetTV also ran The Girl With Something Extra sitcom from 1973-74, I recorded those episodes too.
Nowadays, the majority of programs on GetTV don't interest me. Also include the fact that GetTV now televises in that terrible widescreen format with the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. So I seldom watch the channel anymore. Sonny And Cher maybe once in a while but that's about it. Might also check out some of those Perry Como Christmas specials during December. |

Just took a quick peek at Hot In Cleveland. Here we get the black bars on the sides.

I just checked the end of AITF, and the beginning of the next, and it was full-screen. It looks a little too "zoomed in", so it's probably not supposed to be.
Wasn't it great years ago when we didn't have to deal with black bars (some horizontal, some vertical, some in letterbox), cropped pictures, aspect ratio problems, etc? And shows that are in so-called hi def, I don't see any great increase in quality. |
