Very interesting. I agree with one of the Youtube comments, Crenna, let the lady talk!

Geez, he did that Denton voice--just as annoying as on OMB.

I was surprised Luke (his name on Real McCoys, who I still think of him as) could still do that Walter Denton voice, it was perfect. Collins asked if there were other radio shows that went to TV, holy moly, there were a whole list of them, including Great Gildersleeve that Richard Crenna used to be on (the radio version). I thought it odd that 2 old veterans, not to mention Gary Collins who should have known better, could be so dense about a radio history that they were a part of.

Oh, yeah, Father Knows Best, Burns and Allen, Jack Benny Program, Adv. of Ozzie and Harriet (the last two were on radio for years). The Nelson boys were so young in early radio that other actors played them.

I think Crenna was much better in the McCoys role. The casting on there was great--it was too bad Kathy Nolan left late in the series.

Too bad Gale Gordon couldn't make it to that interview. He probably would have added a lot. Also too bad Eve Arden didn't get to talk more (as I mentioned). Crenna may have taken the ball since Eve had recently lost her husband (named Brooks--I didn't know that!)

Screaming at the screen “Father Knows Best” as well! I liked the Walter Denton voice, LOL can’t believe he did it, it’s very funny in the OMB show when Gale Gordon is berating or catching Walter Denton in a compromising situation, & he screeches into a EEwwww. Hard to believe the show began in 1952 on television, I mean it had to be one of the earliest TV shows, right along with “The Honeymooners”
