Yesterday I saw an episode of Ozzie & Harriet and not only was Chip in it, who I've seen before in Ozzie, but also a very young little Ernie was in it too. By the way, Chip's hair was brown not that fake bleached blonde they later did to his hair on 3 Sons. Speaking of hair, what happened to Ernies?

As a fellow chrome dome, I can say it seems Ernie has gone bald. I think he lost the horn-rimmed glasses and went contacts, too.
I never gave any thought to Chip's bleach job in the first few seasons. Wonder why they bothered. Yep, young Barry was in several O&H's. They gave some characters their real first name |

Ah, the irony- Stanley Livingston who had his hair BLEACHED when he was still a young boy has very thick and long hair while his brother Barry whose hair they left be is a virtual chrome dome.

Going from brunette to blonde: Here we see lovely Mary Jayne Saunders, Robbie's brunette date Charlene in "Kid Brother Blues" airing in March 1966 (Season 6):
This was how she looked on an episode of "I Spy" in April 1966 (both photos). She apparently continued going blonde until at least the early '70s. In her M3S episode, she looks fairly stunning in her party dress, and later in a form-fitting skirt falling above the knees. Mary was born on Oct. 12, 1943, certainly age-appropriate for a love interest of Robbie's (Don Grady was born on June 8, 1944). |
