Default Favorite Episodes? What Are Your's?

My favorite one is "If a Martian Answers, Hang Up!" Where Herman thinks he's contacted Mars on his new ham radio set!!! When he is communicating with what he thinks are real spacemen, his reactions are priceless! Herman and Grandpa remind me of two relatives who would react the same way they did in this hysterical episode!

One of my favorites is "Herman the Master Spy" where he gets caught in a fishing net & pulled onboard a Russian boat.

A House Divided-Herman and Grandpa have a falling out and divide the house in half and they must stay on their own half, hilarious as Lilly teaches both of them a lesson.

1)"Pike's Peak" The first episode I ever saw. It was in syndication, so when it first came to our local station I must of missed the earlier episodes or the play order may of been by production order. My brother kept telling me "You have to see this." I was into the Universal horror movies, so the interest was there. Mrs Pike and the golf club is my favorite sight gag.
2)"Herman The Master Spy" Al Lewis said in an inteview in retrospect that he thought the second season could of been more satirical. I thought this episode was very satirical and topical.
3) "Far Out Munsters" A bit of a time capsule of the '60s culture and again, satirical, because they were doing a send-up of beatniks.
4) "Zombo" Louie Nye looked like he was having a good time.

I just watched "A Visit from Johann" and rates easily as a second favourite. Grandpa thinking he is talking to Johann sitting on the settee and Lily (thinking she's with Herman) getting unceremoniously dumped on the floor by Johann are very funny sequences.

If I had made my list longer I would of included that one. I don't think people in 1966 had ever seen someone on TV eat a chair.

I love the "Don't Bank On Herman" episode where Herman And Grandpa visit a bank and they end up getting stuck in a vault. Then when they call for help, they hear noise on the outside of the vault. Turns out, they are bank robbers trying to get into the vault. When they finally open the vault door, Herman And Grandpa come out scaring the 2 robbers away

I recently bought the complete series on DVD and what a fun series this is! I haven't seen the show since I was a kid and it's great to rediscover these old episodes. Fred Gwynne is my favorite on the show. He is hysterical as Herman from his naivety, to his awesome laugh and temper tantrums. Such a great character! He and Al Lewis are really underrated as a comedy team. Anyways here's my favorite episodes. I still have about 8 episodes to go before I finish the series.

"A Visit from Johann" - Dr. Victor Frankenstein IV from Germany visits Mockingbird Heights and brings with him Johann, Herman's look-alike cousin, who is far less civilized than Herman.

"Prehistoric Munster" - Marilyn wants to sculpt a clay bust in Herman's likeness. When she tells her art professor that the sculpture represents a living person, he plans to make a bundle from his discovery of a missing link.

"Zombo" - Eddie, an avid fan of ghoulish TV host Zombo, becomes the winner of the 'Why I Like Zombo Contest' and gets to be on the Zombo show. Herman becomes jealous of Eddie's new hero and wants to appear equally outlandish.

"Just Another Pretty Face" - A lightning bolt from one of Grandpa's experiments strikes Herman in the head, disfiguring him so severely that he ends up resembling the actor Fred Gwynne.

"Herman the Master Spy" - A Russian fishing trawler picks up a scuba-diving Herman in its haul of fish and mistakes him for the missing link.

"Yes, Galen, There Is a Herman" - Herman saves the life of a young boy, Galen, by bending the bars his head is stuck between. They become close friends, but Galen's parents think Uncle Herman is a figment of the boy's imagination.

"Don't Bank on Herman" - When Herman and Grandpa go to the bank to make a withdrawal, they are instead mistaken for bank robbers and handed $18,000 in cash.

"Grandpa's Call of the Wild" - Herman takes the family on a camping trip. After a dinner by the campfire, Grandpa hears the howls of the wolves and reminisces about his days in the old country. Herman and Lilly tell Grandpa not to do it after what happened last time. After another wolf howl upon the other Munsters going to sleep, Grandpa starts howling as well. The next morning, Grandpa is missing until the other Munsters find Grandpa in the form of a Transylvanian Wolf within the custody of the local rangers. Now the Munsters must get Grandpa out of the camping grounds and back to the house in order to use one of the potions to get Grandpa back to normal.

"Family Portrait" - The Munsters have been chosen by Event Magazine as the average American family. Insulted by being labeled average, Grandpa disappears, jeopardizing the photo opportunity and the prize money that accompanies it.

I would say "Herman The Great" would be my favorite episode of the series. I always liked pro wrestling as a kid. So when I first saw it, I right then it was gonna be my favorite.

That one where Herman is dancing with the Russians is very cool. The one where he has the bullwhip and can't stop playing with it. There are probably many more , Fred Gwyne is a genius...

I don't think there was a single episode I didn't enjoy, at least to some extent, but here are a few that I consider favorites:

"My Fair Munster"
"Rock-a-Bye Munster"
"Tin Can Man"
"Follow That Munster"
"Love Locked Out"
"Bronco Bustin' Munster"
"Operation Herman"
"Cyrano de Munster"
"Herman's Sorority Caper"

I haven't watched them all yet but I really liked Munster Masquerade. I'll post more (or my very favorite) after I finish the series.
