I believe I read this somewhere and can't get a definitive answer, though when i called warner archive they gave me two responses.
Question: Is there a different method used when buying warner archive mod titles at the warner archive site and amazon besides price? I have gone back and forth with buying through both....... I just bought from amazon the three most recent hanna-barbera cartoons Loopy, Wally, & Lippy. They are all pressed on what appears dvd-r purple tint and the silk screening is shiny. And of my 7 dvd players (not recorders) some of the players which are all minus and plus players btw the discs freeze up. I noticed in the tiniest print over the barcode manufactured by amazon, yet I have warner archive titles that are silk screened and are silver pressed discs. Never a single problem with those. Wish I had figured this out if the amazon titles are lesser quality after buying a combination of over 30 discs. So I called Warner archive and operator told me there is no difference, then upon me pressing her with the above information she said yes there is a difference. Can someone with real knowledge please explain this potential problem as I am too far in to return or replace the ones i got from amazon. |

Warner Archive normally makes an initial batch of pressed discs that are available exclusively through their website. So you need to pre-order a title there if you want to be sure you get pressed discs. The product Amazon sells are burned discs, not pressed. There are exceptions, though. The last couple of seasons of ALICE were all burned, even from WA, because they likely weren't expecting as big a sell-thru as the earlier seasons.

This has been a labor of love but an extremely extensive project and when completed it will have taken me about 100 hours of time. |
