Default "Let's Make A Deal" - the ORIGINAL vs. the new version

Which do you like better? The ORIGINAL half-hour version with Monty Hall/the late Jay Stewart(announcer/sidekick)or the new hourlong version with Wayne Brady as host and Jonathan Magnum as his announcer/sidekick.The new version is WAAAY too long(too many commercials).Monty Hall's appearance on the new show was the highlight.(It's too bad they didn't include Carol Merrill(the model on the original version). Also, the new version lacks the pizzaz the original had.Another thing working against it,is the "big deal",which is always the same:cars, and generally, nothing else(sometimes, and this is a good thing, trips, money, sometimes dining rooms, bedroom sets, living rooms, computers, etc,.in addition to the cars).Overall,I'd give the new version a 5/10 for being somewhat mediocre, and 8/10 for the original.

The original from the 1960s & 70s was awesome, as was the 1984 version known as "The All-New Let's Make a Deal", which had the really cool "Dealer Wheel", Door #4 game.

Monty was, and is, and always shall be "TV's Big Dealer". Wayne & Jonathan do ok. 60 minutes is far too long for this show. I also dislike that only 1 contestant or 1 couple gets to try for the Big Deal instead of 2. I guess that's a way to save some $ in this economy.

The older shows I grew up with, watching with my mom & dad, and had a more family feel to them. Game shows seem to have lost that feel. Even classics like Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy with their new wave sets & technological stuff.

And in today's episode(June 16)when the couple won the big deal(which was a car),and were excited,Wayne Brady, kind of frowning, said impatiently to the model;"Go down and show them their big deal."

And on the original, they used to ADD prizes to the deal Monty Hall offered players.Do they do that on the new version?

650! Whoo Hoo!
It would have been great if they had two people or couples compete for the big deal instead of one. And on the old show, they had a chance to play for the Super Deal. I wish they had brought that back.

Everything is a product of its time. The old LMAD was my favorite, there will only be one Monty Hall (RIP). The new version is OK but I find the prizes rather underwhelming, especially compared with The Price Is Right. On TPIR a showcase sometimes runs $40,000 the Big Deal on LMAD is seldom over 20,000-$25,000 from what I have seen. That is a low-end showcase on TPIR.

His name isn't Jonathan Magnum, it's Jonathan Mangum.

I used to watch the current Wayne Brady version of Let's Make A Deal when it was fun to watch but I gave up watching it because I feel that LMAD went downhill and nothing can hold a candle to the original version. For one thing the Wayne Brady version of LMAD seems like a sitcom and a comedy club act rather than a game show and it seems that CBS has been trying to make LMAD like The Price Is Right while the original Monty Hall LMAD was cute and had interesting prizes and funny zonks. Another thing that the Wayne Brady version has sometimes are these annoying theme weeks that have almost nothing in common with LMAD and I remember the original version of LMAD had interesting theme weeks that were so fun to see. A thing that LMAD should do away with is the Mega Deal and Super Deal because hardly anyone wins it and when contestants choose to go for it they either pick the wrong colored envelope or keep the Big Deal and when they have Mega Deal week or Super Deal week they overhype it by having spoilers and I don't recall Monty Hall's version doing this so much. The worst thing was that when Monty Hall died in 2017 Wayne Brady's LMAD couldn't even do a good tribute show to him and from what I read about the LMAD Monty Hall tribute show the show was mostly built on clips of Monty Hall's appearences on the current LMAD and had few Monty Hall themed games and it was "as Laurel And Hardy used to say a fine mess" And i'm sure glad I didn't get to see it when it aired but in later episodes they had a memorial message to Monty which I thought was nice. But I can guarantee that this will be the last season from LMAD if CBS can improve it better. But for now I'll stick with Monty Hall's LMAD
