Perrette sent a series of tweets on Sunday in response to tabloid stories about her departure. “Maybe I’m wrong for not ‘spilling the beans’ Telling the story, THE TRUTH," she tweeted early Sunday morning. "I feel I have to protect my crew, jobs and so many people. But at what cost? I.don’t know. Just know, I’m trying to do the right thing, but maybe silence isn’t the right thing about crime. I’m… Just… ?". In another tweet minutes later, she wrote: "There is a ‘machine’ keeping me silent and feeding FALSE stories about me. A very rich, very powerful publicity ‘machine.’ No morals, no obligation to truth, and I’m just left here, reading the lies, trying to protect my crew. Trying to remain calm. He did it.”

I know there were rumors that she left because Mark Harmon brings his dog to the set. Don't know if any of that is true.

She was likely referring to an October 2016 incident in which Harmon's dog bit a crew member, requiring 15 stitches. The dog was allowed to return to the set, despite Perrette's objections, resulting in tension between the actress and Harmon. That's the reason why Abby and Gibbs rarely shared screentime in recent seasons. "The tension between the two stars became so bad after the dog-bite incident that the show came to an arrangement in which the stars never had to be in the same location together," The Wrap reports based on sources. Abby and Gibbs didn't even appear together on her final episode. The Wrap reports that in certain scenes, Abby and Gibbs were edited together "through the magic of television." The Wrap adds that Perrette made up her mind to leave the show before the incident.

Perrette seemed to confirm rumors of her 2018 departure from NCIS after 15 seasons in a series of tweets this morning. Responding to fans urging her to reprise her Abby Sciuto role on NCIS, Perrette tweeted: "NO I AM NOT COMING BACK! EVER! (Please stop asking?) I am terrified of Harmon and him attacking me. I have nightmares about it. I have a new show that is SAFE AND HAPPY! You’ll love it!" Perrette recently returned to CBS to star in the sitcom Broke next season. Shortly before her final episode aired in May 2018, Perrette alluded to "multiple physical assaults" leading to her exit. The Wrap reported that she was referring to a 2016 incident in which a Harmon's dog bit a crew member, requiring 15 stitches. Perrette objected to the dog's return to set, The Wrap reported, which led to tension with Harmon and them filming their scenes apart. In a follow-up tweet this morning, Perrette posted images of a crew member's injury: "You think I didn’t expect blow back? You got me wrong," she tweeted. Today at CBS’s TCA summer tour day, the network’s President of Entertainment Kelly Kahl was asked to address Pauley Perrette’s revived assault claims against "NCIS" star Mark Harmon.

Said Kahl, “I can’t speak to to what she’s addressing in her tweets. She came to us with a workplace concern, we immediately investigated it and resolved it to everyone’s satisfaction and we’re very happy to have her on the air with us this year. I don’t think she’d be back with us if she had huge concerns.”

Perrette is set to return to CBS in 2020, starring alongside Jaime Camil in the midseason comedy "Broke".

Perrette responded to Vanity Fair's lengthy story detailing the fired Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver and Magnum P.I. boss Lenkov's abusive behavior by recounting the abuse she says she experienced on NCIS. Her comments come a year after Perrette tweeted "I was terrified" of former co-star Mark Harmon. "there are things SO RACIST and SO MISOGYNISTIC and SO HOMOPHOBIC and cruel that were said on set at that show that I have never spoken of because the language is SO HURTFUL," Perrette tweeted. "And y’all wondered why I quit? Those producers are still there. All of them. Including HIM. And good guy @LucasTill a beautiful truthful human, I too went to @CBS told about abuse by MH (Mark Harmon) on set & I was asked THREE TIMES 'are you asking for money?' I was like 'Huh? No!' And I did NOT! I wanted me & my crew to be safe from him. I should’ve and given it to his other victims."
