We discussed this phrase a while back. In Michigan we say we are "in line" for something. Someone mentioned that in New York they say waiting "on line". Well, I was watching an episode of Kate And Allie , which is set in New York City, and Kate mentioned waiting "on line". I had never heard that before. Where you live how do you phrase it?

I remember being smacked down for saying "on line", but if I have Kate and Allie on my side I feel totally vindicated. |

IN LINE!!! I’m sorry but when I’m in New York and hear “on line,” it drives me absolutely mad. It makes zero sense!

Everyone around here says in line. Waiting "on line" sounds like you're waiting via the internets.
In parts of Europe I think they say "in queue". |

This thread should probably be moved to the politics section.
It's way too controversial.
