Default "The Family" - Ed leaves Eunice! FINALLY on YouTube!

So a fellow "Family"/"Mama's Family" friend alerted me this weekend that this sketch has FINALLY been found on YouTube! After knowing of its existence for over 20 years but never getting to see it, it is SO great to finally see it!! Ed leaves Eunice over the telephone!

For the last few days I kept forgetting to post about it here, but here it is! As Eunice would say, "Thank the LOH-urd for W Mackey!!"

(it's the first sketch, at the 3:45 mark)

Right?? Almost no one has! (since it aired, anyway). In over 20 years of knowing this sketch existed, I have never seen it available for viewing until now.

SO much humor in it, and SO much pathos, also. And one of those longer ones too, at about 20 minutes!

If only they didn't have Dick Van Dyke in this. Don't get me wrong, he's brilliant and was wonderful on his own sitcom, but he just doesn't seem to "fit" with the Burnett show style.

I do remember seeing this in the 80s from my childhood, b/c ALL of the show was aired on TBS as Carol Burnett and Friends, dunno why they skip season 11 now days when it airs. I do remember seeing the spaghetti clip from a special Carol did several years ago so I assumed it had to be from THIS sketch since I didn't recognize the scene.

ALSO I watched Carol Burnett special a couple of years ago, and they showed a clip of Mama pointing out Eunice's faults saying SOMETHING to the effect of, "What kind of normal man would want a woman who has 2 juvanile delinquents, not a dime to her name, can't cook, can't keep house...and an alcoholic!" So I'm guessing that scene has to be from the NEXT sketch following this one Mama Visits Unannounced.. since I don't recognize that scene from any other the others.

And I liked Dick Van Dyke.... But never really knew if he really liked Eunice or was just using her.

Oo, that's very interesting...but I wonder what special that was, because I have all of the Burnett reunion specials, and that wasn't in any of those.

This was something like an Intimate Portrait something like that, I know it was on Youtube.

There is also another Carol Burnett special I remember from the early to mid 90s that no one else seems to remember:

In this one it's just Carol alone, none of her co-stars, and she has gray hair and for the first half of the special she is wearing a long Mickey Mouse shirt like for sleeping, then about midway through the show she takes it off to revel a very elegant evening dress on underneth it.

But in this special she shows a clip from the "Ed leaves Eunice" sketch. Carol is talking a bit about the Family sketches and she says, "As I got younger Vickie became my mother" then it shows the clip of Eunice and Mama sitting down to eat spaghetti, and it cuts right before the doorbell rang.

I've seen Carol's IP, so I wouldn't think it was from that. It's been a long time though. It also sounds like it could be from "Eunice", but it's been a long time since I've watched that as well.

Hmm, I don't know what that would be. In the first CBS reunion special (the best one, IMO) from 1993 that was taped in 1992, she took off her Charwoman outfit to reveal an elegant copper-gold glittering pantsuit for the finale number.

But looking at IMDB, the only thing it seems like it could possibly be would be "The Carol Burnett Special Years", but it doesn't really seem like that would be it:

Good luck finding the early 90s special I'm talking about, I've looked everywhere lol I just remember my grandmother and I watched it and it aired twice I remember, this would have been BEFORE the 25 anniversary special from 93"?" I think it was.

And as far as Mam yelling out all Eunice's faults from that clip, I'm pretty sure it was from the CB show, b/c it was definitly Eunice's living room.

JUST LIKE I'd love some information of the clip I've talked about here of Eunice Mama and Ed and they all look much older, looks like something from the early 90s. That makes me wonder if Carol did a couple of unaired Eunice sketches on her new show from 1991.

Also from what I gather the overview of the sketch that takes place between Ed Leaves Eunice and the Password Sketch is:

Mama brings Eunice a chocolate cake to cheer her up after Ed has left her, and Eunice keeps trying to rush Mama out the door b/c Dan is upstairs, Dan comes down the stairs wearing one of Eunice's bathrobes as he is about to take a shower.....Mama sees this and goes berserk, thinking he and Eunice are shaking up. Eunice and Mama get into a HUGE fight in front of Dan... Mama finally storms out vowing to disown Eunice, then a few seconds later Mama comes back in requesting 5 bucks for a taxi.

This is the only sketch I have yet to see, UNLESS I saw it as a child. And the clip of Mama pointing out Eunice's faults would go well with the synopsis of this one.

I think I have posted this here before but, from my childhood watching the Family Sketches, I SO VIVIDLY remember a dialogue between Eunice and Mama that went like this. Mama says, "Eunice for crying out loud!!" to which Euince ~who is already upset ~ replies, "FINE MAMA I WILL CRY OUT LOUD!!!" then she starts literally wailing, screaming and crying to the top of her lungs!!

So since that dialogue is not in any other Family Sketch, it MUST be in this one, if it exists at all and I saw this sketch in my childhood, OR I am just falsely remembering that line.

No no, as far as we know no one can view the divorce one, lol. I'm referring to this one in this thread. Sorry, I didn't realize you'd think I meant that one. I was back "on topic", lol.
