Default Tammy

Does anyone remember or ever heard of the short lived sitcom "Tammy" starring Debbie Watson which was on ABC Television from 1965 to 1966?

It was kind of similar to "Gidget" combined with "The Beverly Hillbillies". It only lasted for 26 episodes.

They strung four episodes together and made them into a movie, “Tammy and the Millionaire”, which local stations aired in the 70s and 80s.

I remember that.

From what I know I don't think anyone has ever broadcast the original 26 episodes in syndication anywhere since it originally aired.

I vaguely remember it. I think it was based on a Debbie Reynolds movie.

That makes it awfully hard to find online as well but I did find the "Tammy and the Millionaire" movie:

Tammy and the Millionaire (1967)

A few years earlier, Debbie Watson also appeared in another short-lived teen sitcom called "Karen" which didn't fare much better than "Tammy" but it is notable for the fact that its theme song was performed by the Beach Boys:

Debbie Watson - Karen (1964)

I have heard of her other TV show Karen, however I am not as familiar with it as I am with Tammy. You're right about it not doing much better than what Tammy did. Only 27 episodes.

My older Sister had a Tammy doll. It was the size of a Barbie doll. She was blonde. Was this possibly a doll of the Tammy from this show?

I just found out The doll was based more on the movie than the show !

The doll was loosely based on the character "Tammy" in the 1957 film Tammy and the Bachelor.[2] Tammy was produced in three versions: the first with straight legs, the second released in 1964 with bendable legs, and the final version released in 1965 was an older-looking doll titled "Grown Up Tammy". This doll was also released in an African American version.

In 1965, Tammy's popularity waned and she was discontinued in early 1966.

Strangely, after ABC axed "Tammy" the alphabet net added another show with the name Tammy in the title, "The Tammy Grimes Show" which immediately flopped.
