Default Julie Anne Haddock on Hollywood's Children (1982)

Julie Anne's interview in this documentary starts at 48:30.

There are several things that struck me about this interview.

Great find retro! They even mention FOL. I wonder if this was when she was still on or after her firing?

This aired in February 1982, so shortly after she was no longer on the show. Her last appearance, until TLC, was in November 1981.

Interesting. So she was still pursuing acting after FOL

Definitely. She even appeared in a couple of episodes of a TV show called Boone, which aired in 1983. It was at that point that she seems to have left the industry, for the most part.

*ahem*, after her being let go.

Nah, I know, some guys on this board like to say the "f" word, but I still prefer the LG phrase, lol.

Great find, Retro!

Some bittersweetness about it though...she loved being a child actress, and wasn't going to stop until she was an old lady...aww!

And I dunno about you guys, but I cannot watch that without thinking of Jonathan Dutton and Tootie in "Pretty Babies" all over the place!

I know! And she's just a year or so away from calling it quits in the industry, although she doesn't know it at the time. In "retro"spect, it's a little heartbreaking to her her talking about how she doesn't want to quit until she's old, knowing she'll very soon leave the industry.

YES! Thank you!

I deliberately didn't say anything because I wanted to see if you guys would notice it. I just said, "There are several things that struck me about this interview", very neutrally.

But here she is, being dolled up by the photographer, to look more adult. And then in the voiceover, they talk about her not wanting to do nude photography. WTF!? Why was that even a question? And the photographer even resembles Jonathan Dutton.

Haha, yay! Glad it wasn't just me!

Yeah, her mother brought it up, but I was hoping it was from a place of "when discussing acting with Julie as a young teenage girl, they advised her not to do nude scenes when she grew up, and then they heard her remark or had a discussion where she said she just would not do that; it's not her".

I was definitely reminded, but then again, I have seen PB a dozen or more times.

Whatever the reason they brought it up, it definitely gave it a "Pretty Babies" vibe that I can't now un-see or un-hear.

One of the cool things about this interview, though, is that we got to see Julie Anne one more time in Cindy's trademark tomboy braids!

I don't know if I've seen it a dozen or more, but those Eastland years are a part of my organic DNA, as they are yours.

Yeah, that's why I was thinking (hopefully) it was just in conversation with her parents, lol.

Oh yeah, after she said she didn't want to be remembered for her hair! (shhhh, Retro!)

Watching this again, I'm still in shock at how positive Julie Anne was that she'd continue in the industry. One year later, everything had changed.

At least Julie Ann seems to be happy where life has taken her all these years later.

She seems happy, and that is a very good thing, but it is hard to watch this video, where she says she wants to continue in Hollywood, and know that one year from when this video was made, Julie Anne would leave Hollywood. What changed her convictions so completely?
