Default Was Bookman really that fat?

If Goodtimes was made today, I don't think Bookman would have been labeled as really fat as to be the butt of fat jokes. Today's society as whole is obese.

But for 70's society I still don't think Bookman was really that fat. Sure he had a big stomach and maybe big butt , but people with big bones tend to look that way back then and today.

For example, Florida can be considered big bones, and she probably weight as much as Bookman. But nobody called her fat.

I bet if Bookman lost some belly fat, he would have not be considered fat.

Yes because he appeared on the Jeffersons in the 80's and still fat. Florence called him short and fat

It was probably also due to the way he dressed. I mean, given the right size clothing, he might not have appeared fat at all. On Seinfeld, they made Jason Alexander wear smaller clothes to appear overweight on screen.

I never noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out. That explain his tight tool belt that did exaggerate his big belly. He even wore it on his night gown
