Did they ever find the people or try to dive for. To see if there are any bodies. Or any thing.

True-and there have been literally been thousands of shipwrecks down the ages in the Atlantic Ocean these last two centuries alone. Hence; even if someone found something from the Mary Celeste, unless knew exactly what was missing from that vessel (or, for that matter, the remains' ages, body types, etc.), it's unlikely a searcher then or now could have discovered anything. Oh, and we need to keep in mind that the empty vessel was first discovered off the coast of Portugal which was very busy shipping nation (in fact its name was derived from the Roman word for 'port'). Personally, I think the cargo went bad and they thought they'd better ride in the lifeboat until it was safe to return but the lifeboat's tether got loose and the captain, his family and the entire crew were stuck in that lifeboat with no one to rescue them and eventually drowned. Tragically, the captain's six-year-old son (who was in the US with relatives at the time) not only was orphaned but would never find out exactly what had happened to his family. That also was the case for the families of the crew.

Fumes got out, due to a seepage of alcohol through a few porous barrels. The denatured alcohol was poisonous, and the crew got scared it might ignite and explode and they fled to the towed lifeboat until the danger passed. However, the rope snapped, the lifeboat got lost, and they all went to sea.
There are far weirder and mysterious ghost ship stories than the Mary Celeste, that one is basically solved. No trace of mutiny or piracy and obviously paranormal explanations are to be seen with skepticism. |

I think the Mary Celeste exploded as the theorists believe. We haven’t found anything significant for that reason. It’s kinda like MH 370, but on a much smaller scale.
ETA: I’m mixing up cases again! LOLOLOL! But seriously— they abandoned ship for whatever reason and were lost at sea. I don’t believe they were abducted or anything. |
