I feel the same way. It was great when UM and AMW were both on the air, although it wasn't without its disadvantages, perhaps the biggest of which was the competition between them (similar to Coke vs. Pepsi). But two shows of their ilk are better than one. After UM stopped production in 2002, AMW remained on the air. That was bad enough, but having neither show on the air is even worse. Although there have been no new episodes of AMW since October 2012, it wasn't officially canceled until March 2013.
Shortly after AMW's official cancellation, the Boston Marathon bombing took place. Had AMW still been on at the time, the show would have undoubtedly covered that case to try and help bring the perpetrators to justice. The fact that neither AMW nor UM was in production to aid in the case was depressing. With both UM and AMW off the air, I felt that people who relied on those shows for help were being hung out to dry. |

Definitely. Both UM and AMW effectively helped many people, especially when other sources were unable or unwilling to do so. While the internet is very useful for such help, television is proof that the old-fashioned outlets are often among the most effective ones.
