You mean The Munsters Today that premiered in 1988? Yeah, it wasn't very good.

I watched it on Hulu and thought that it could have been way better. It was definitely different though to say the least. Munster's is one of those shows that should never be remade, rebooted, or revived. It was perfect just the way it was.

I loved it! I have fond memories of watching it as a little boy. Just for nostalgia's sake, I really wish it would get a DVD release.

I saw it on Hulu and could barely make it through an episode. Just plain cringeworthy. I’ll take The New Addams Family over this show any day.

What really hurts is the revival ran for two years longer than the original, complete with day-glo 1980s neon magenta and turquoise hues.
They had a lot of talented actors on the show, but the writing was often abysmal. Which is remarkable since the opening credits told the story of the family (for whatever cartoonish reason) going into hibernation and waking up 20 years later. At least it wasn't a generic reboot but an attempt to continue the line. What could a reboot do, take a family based on Hollywood scary monsters but retooled into a comedic form into a bunch of horrific characters? |
