So I'm currently binging the first 2 seasons of FOL's parent show DS, and I thought I'd share a few nuggets about Mrs. Garrett from there:
Mrs. Garrett is the first character seen in the first 2 episodes; indeed, she is the only character on screen for the first 20 seconds of the show! And she gets a few good laughs in. ![]() She mentions her ex-husband 3 or 4 times within the first 5 episodes! lol In episode 20 she mentions her sister, "Beverly"! (no "Ann") Beverly lives in Seattle, and Mrs. Garrett goes to visit her when the group goes to Portland for the crossover with the bomb "Hello, Larry". But Mrs. Garrett joins them in Portland saying when she went to Seattle to surprise Beverly, she found out Beverly had gone to NY to surprise her! ![]() Also, it's interesting to note that in "Mrs. Garrett's Crisis", she expresses frustration at not having any authority in her position, and that it's time for a change in her life, and that she has so much to share with all of her experience. How fitting is that, for what would be on the horizon for her?

Also "Eastlake"-related, Kimberly is referenced by Mr. Drummond in one or two episodes as staying at her school, so allegedly she lives in the Eastlake dorm in DS season 1.

Thanks for this little facts! I'm glad that the two shows keep a continuity and a very strong connection for the first seasons. I have a question: Have the Drummonds ever mentioned Mrs. Garrett after her departure? I only remember two occasions: 1) the Hello, Larry episode where Mr. D said that Mrs. G was helping Kimberly's school, 2) the episode where Adelaide first appeared where Mr. D said (on the phone) that the last housekeeper that the agency sent just left. Plus, I found weird that Mrs. G never appeared on DS when the Eastland Girls were at the penthouse, why??

Yes, she even made an appearance in episode 6-18, "The Wedding", where Mr. Drummond gets married, and all his housekeepers are seen at the same time.

I just remember a mention or two after she left and before Adelaide came on. I don't think she was mentioned after that, just seen at the wedding.

There is a season 2 episode of DS during season 1 FOL where Mr. Drummond is on the phone with Mrs. Garrett, and he reassures her to take all the time she needs to help out at Kimberly's school.
And then in the late Thanksgiving crossover episode with the failed "Hello, Larry", when the HL cast stays with the Drummonds, Mr. D tells Larry's producer Morgan that she can stay in Mrs. Garrett's room while she's away at Kimberly's school (whereupon Arnold says "You'll love Mrs. Garrett's room. She's got a picture of Rudolph Valentino that lights up", lol). |

Oh gosh, I don't remember now. But it was during fall '79, so it would be one of these:
"Birds and Bees" "Arnold's Hero" "The Adoption" "Father and Son Day" Or possibly "Hot Watch" or "The Dog Story", which aired in December; but I think it was sooner than that. |
