Angry MeTV credit crunching now

Well it looks like MeTV has finally joined the rest of the networks and began to crunch credits at the end of shows. At least at the end of The Carol Burnett Show on Thursday night they sure did 😡

Wow, your thread title really sent me into a panic!

I did record Carol Burnett along with quite a few other shows on Me today, so I was able to go back and double check. Yes it looks like for that Carol Burnett episode they did "crunch" the original show credits but it was to add additional credits on the outer part. I think that was just done for that specific show, this is a new repackaged version of the original 1 hour variety series, right?

They didn't crunch the credits for Hogan's Heroes right before it, nor were they crunched today for Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Rifleman, Wagon Train, or the Jeffersons.

They already time compress their programming, maybe that's why they're able to get away with not crunching the credits as well. I hope they never start doing so, that would be terrible.

Yes I noticed they didn’t do it to Perry Mason so maybe it was just for this specific episode of The Carol Burnett Show. I’ve been enjoying seeing these. Of course I’d like the hour long versions but I know that isn’t going to happen.

Time compression has been going on for quite awhile on MeTV. At times in the past it was really obvious at certain times, but they've probably refined it.

As long as they're the number one diginet, and the combination of time compression and editing is working, I hope they won't do credit crunching.

They need to “crunch” Joe Namath. I’m so sick of seeing that man tell me about all the “benefits you deserve”.

They didn’t crunch Green Acres either. This title sent me into a panic too. If this network starts crunching credits, then I’m done with all ota retro networks.

I haven’t noticed it on Andy Griffith or Perry Mason - the only shows I am able to catch these days. I hope I never see it either.

MetV does not do any Credit Crunches

CoziTV did do credit crunch split screen for awhile then they stop now when a show is finsh they go stright to the next show without going to a commercial break on Adam-12 episode they do the credit at the bottom while the last part of the show s still playing then they show last credits then go to next show.

I've noticed that Cozi TV skips the closing credits altogether for "My Favorite Martian", they don't even show them at the bottom of the last scene of the show. At least there's no crunching though.

I have some of the original episodes so I compared them to see what was missing. The originals are 25:30 minutes long and the episodes as shown on Cozi are 21:30, so along with the 30 second closing credits there's an additional 3 minutes 30 seconds cut from each episode. There was no time compression, they're played at their original speed.

well, looks like Cozi's no longer one of the best of all the "retro-channels".

I don't know why we're seeing all these medicare ads now. It isn't even open enrollment time.

I don't like that one with Namath either, but I'd take it over one of those loooooong ads on Antenna TV, like Lifelock, Proactive, the SPCA, or that stupid spray-on makeup. I think they run 3 or more minutes.

This is why I have DVD's of most of my favorite shows and seldom watch the retro channels. DVD's aren't always perfect, sometimes episodes are edited, but DVD's are much better than having to watch the retro channels and put up with all the crap they pull.

The only time I rely on the retro channels is if one of them is airing episodes of shows I like that aren't available on retail DVD's. During the past year or two I recorded the episodes of Peter Loves Mary and The Girl With Something Extra from GetTV, also recorded the episodes of The Joey Bishop Show and The Paul Lynde Show from Antenna TV. I won't record shows from GetTV now because they switched to widescreen telecasting. GetTV used to be fullscreen but not anymore.

Same here. I almost solely rely on DVDs. I sometimes watch Home Improvement on Laff since it’s one of the few shows they don’t crunch. I also occasionally will catch The Jeffersons or Green Acres on Me but other than that I really don’t watch any of these retro channels much. With bad schedules and credit crunching, most of them just aren’t worth it.
