Who was the best 4th Character of Gunsmoke, Chester, Quint, Festus or Newly? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I have to go with Festus because of his dynamic personality. Festus could not read or write but he was still able to get under Doc's skin. After Festus I would go with Chester Goode and then Quint Asper. I was never a big fan of Newly O'Brien.

I agree completely!! Newly was just a little too "goody goody" for my tastes.
