Default Parent Trap 1961 vs Parent Trap 1998

Which version do you like better? I have seen the Lindsay Lohan version umpteen times in the past few months and I've always loved it. But I do like the original as well. I love the "Let's Get Together" segment in the middle and I wish they had done something like that in the Lindsay Lohan version (although she does sing it in the hotel on the way to the elevator. I thought that was clever!)

The newer version is more romantic and I think the acting is a little better. But Haley Mills is completely adorable as Sharon and Susan. The scenery in both movies is beautiful but I like the scenery in the remake. I'm going to venture a guess that most of the original was filmed in a studio whereas the newer version was probably filmed on location in certain places.

I like Brian Keith, but I thought that he was kind of harsh in the original whereas Dennis Quaid's character was a little more mellow even when he got mad. I do like Maureen Ohara but I also like Natasha Richardson. Both were so beautiful.

Let's discuss!

I have only seen The Haley Mills version and loved it so much I was afraid the new one wouldn't be as good. I was rooting for Lindsay Lohan to have a good career.

It's different and I like Dennis Quaid as the dad better than Brian Keith. He seemed so "angry" when delivering his lines. I don't know if that was intentional but I prefer Dennis Quaid. I did love Maureen Ohara but I also loved Natasha Richardson. It didn't really feel like a remake of the first movie to be honest. I love both versions. Lindsay Lohan was really good in the 1998 version and I saw her going places as well. But you might like that version. I'd be curious to see which one you liked better. My guess would be the original, and I can totally understand that!

Shmoopie, If I ever get a chance to watch the Lindsay version I will. You had me looking around to see if I might have had it as I sometimes get things without watching them like 70th anniversary 2 disc set of The Wizard of Oz, Sherlock Holmes 39 TV episodes with a couple classic movies and Freaky Friday (1976) and I found an old family photo which i was looking for.

I liked Lindsay Lohan's Parent Trap redo... and also her Freaky Friday w/ Jaime Lee Curtis.

I saw the original Parent Trap a long time ago and I honestly don't remember much of it. They made 3 sequels that were made-for-TV years later in the 1980s (also featuring Haley Mills) that I haven't seen.

Linsday Lohan's version has been on Freeform a lot lately if you get that station. But I think it's been on other stations as well b/c I am pretty sure I've seen it at least ten times since January and that's just from catching it on TV every now and then.
