One of my favorite episodes, "Just a Kid Again."
I've been watching the series on Logo and may have hallucinated a scene. This https://www.springfieldspringfield.c...episode=s06e23 purports to give an entire transcript of the episode. Logo did cut a scene, in which Irving, transformed by Tabitha from a 32-year-old salesman into a 9-year-old boy, is pulled over by a cop while driving and rescued by an old man who drops him at the Stephens'. The scene I remember, however, is Irving picking up a phone and saying, "Hello, Mom? Dad? How would you like raising me all over again?" This is neither in what Logo showed or this transcript! Is it a real scene from this program, and if not, is it from some other show with a similar situation? Thanks. |

Thanks, Larry, although I am afraid that it was not Samantha who picked up Irving. He showed up at her door and she said, "My, aren't we all dressed up this morning," to which Irving replied, "That's right, and your daughter's the one who dressed me." This was the first Samantha knew who Irving was and the nature of his predicament.
As for the scene of him calling his parents, I am afraid that is lost in the Twilight Zone along with a certain scene I remembered from To Kill a Mockingbird. After Atticus Finch shoots the rabid dog, he warns the children not to go near it, as it is just as dangerous dead as alive. In the scene I remembered, Jem then walked past the dog, several feet away, but nearer than Atticus would probably have been pleased with. I watched the movie on TCM, couldn't believe what I saw, and watched the scene again on YouTube. Jem never moves, but remains staring while holding onto a telephone pole, and nothing can have been cut as that image dissolves into the next scene and the music is continuous. I thought I merely confused the movie scene with the book, but guess what, in the book the same thing happens, Atticus shoots the dog, and they wait watching for Zeebo to pick it up. No one goes near it. I feel as if scenes such as this and the Bewitched exchange must have been somewhere with which I confused these shows, but in what other sources does a man warn his children to stay away from a rabid animal he's shot, and does a man who has been changed into a child call his parents? I often wondered how Irving explained the call afterwards! |
