DWTS is hitting all time lows and far from the dominant force it used to be. Adding the results show back would be a really dumb move.

I think that after the upcoming season airs, it should just be canceled.

JIMMY KIMMEL BRINGS AN UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT OF TELEVISION TO ABC WITH

‘LIVE IN FRONT OF A STUDIO AUDIENCE: NORMAN LEAR’S ‘ALL IN THE FAMILY’ AND ‘THE JEFFERSONS,’’ WEDNESDAY, MAY 22

ALL-STAR CAST INCLUDES ELLIE KEMPER, JAMIE FOXX, JUSTINA MACHADO,

MARISA TOMEI, WANDA SYKES, WILL FERRELL AND WOODY HARRELSON

ABC’s late-night host Jimmy Kimmel presents a live, 90-minute prime-time event in tribute to classic television sitcoms. “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons’” teams Kimmel with television icon Norman Lear and executive producers Brent Miller, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Justin Theroux. This special, airing live WEDNESDAY, MAY 22 (8:00-9:31 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, will take viewers down memory lane, recreating an original episode from each of the Emmy® Award-winning series “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons.” This legendary night of television will be hosted by Lear and Kimmel, and directed by 10-time Emmy winner James Burrows.

“All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons” were groundbreaking shows that changed American television. In this new, one-night-only event, Woody Harrelson will take on the role of Archie Bunker, alongside Marisa Tomei who will be playing Edith Bunker, with Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes playing George and Louise Jefferson. Ellie Kemper will play Gloria Stivic; Will Ferrell will appear as Tom Willis, and Justina Machado is set to play Florence Johnston. More stars will be named later.

“The fact that a group of Oscar® winners eagerly agreed to play these iconic characters is a testament to the greatness of these shows and their creator, Norman Lear. To be a part of this is a dream come true for me and for everyone involved,” said Jimmy Kimmel.

“We are so honored to partner with our brilliant friend Jimmy Kimmel and trailblazer Norman Lear to bring some of the most iconic sitcoms ever made back to television,” said Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment. “These revered shows are as culturally relevant today as they’ve ever been, and the talent they have gathered makes this the can’t-miss television event of the year … make that decade.”

“They have said over and over again that these two shows were meant for the ‘70s and would not work today. We disagree with them and are here to prove, with two great casts depicting ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons,’ the timelessness of human nature. I cannot wait to see what these glorious performers make in our time of these indelible characters, and I couldn’t be more grateful for Jimmy Kimmel, Sony and ABC for their collective willingness to conceive and pursue this never-been-done-before event,” said Norman Lear.

“We are honored and elated to be involved in retelling these groundbreaking stories, which are as relevant today as they were 40 years ago when they first aired. And to be working with such brilliant icons as Norman Lear and Jimmy Kimmel, as well as this dream cast, in this exciting new format, is nothing short of amazing!” said Sony Pictures Television Studios President Jeff Frost and Co-Presidents Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter.

From 1971 through 1979, “All in the Family” was in the homes of millions of Americans, tackling controversial subjects for the first time such as women’s rights, racism and homosexuality. The series followed Archie Bunker as the highly opinionated, working-class family man who viewed the world on his terms. When not arguing with his liberal son-in-law, Archie took refuge in his wife, Edith, who tried to understand Archie's conservative ways and outdated beliefs. The award-winning series shaped ongoing political and social conversations among American families in the post-civil rights era.

The success of “All in the Family” launched “The Jeffersons,” running from 1975 to 1985. It was the first television series to feature an interracial couple, and it would go on to be one of the longest-running African-American shows on TV. The series followed George and Louise Jefferson moving on up to the east side and showcasing what it was like to be successful in a predominantly white world. The series changed the landscape and helped shift conversations about race and class, paving the way for other African-American actors and TV shows.

“Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons’” will be produced by Smoking Baby Productions, ACT III Productions, Gary Sanchez Productions and Sony Pictures Television. Norman Lear, Jimmy Kimmel, Brent Miller, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Justin Theroux will executive produce; and the live special will be directed by James Burrows.

Bless This Mess is garbage that doesn't deserve to come back. If ABC foolishly renews it, will be another Splitting Up Together situation for season 2. The difference this year is ABC doesn't need a save face comedy renewal like that, the only other freshman comedies in SUT's season (Roseanne was not a rookie) were The Mayor and Alex, Inc. The Kids Are Alright is the best comedy that has premiered in a long time. I hope ABC is behind TKAA and patient with it like they were The Middle. Hardly advertising it compared to most of their other freshman hasn't helped , but The Middle was constantly under advertised as well and ended up with a nice long run. TKAA is also closer to syndication already having a full season, Mess only has a handful of episodes so far and doesn't fit in with the rest of ABC's family comedy focus. Speechless hasn't done well since being shoved to Friday but should still be protected for one more season by the 3rd season fully owned syndication rule. And Sundays shouldn't be permanently sent to the reality wasteland either. ABC wasn't trying at all the last few falls. DWTS should be reduced to summer or Saturdays, way past its prime now. Bermuda Triangle would be a good show for Sundays at 8:00, the exact slot where Once Upon a Time dominated for several seasons. 8:00 is also where Lost was the strongest on another night, before moving to later hours. If Triangle does well enough for a full season there, American Idol could move to 9-11 when it came back, giving the affiliates a strong lead-in for their news. Shark Tank might do better leading off Mondays or moving back to Fridays at 9:00.

what I would schedule for ABC 2019-2020 season

Sundays
7:00 America's Funniest Home Videos
8:00 Bermuda Triangle- ABC the last 2 falls has been pathetic not even trying on Sundays. The night doesn't need turned into a permanent reality wasteland. This is the slot where Once Upon a Time did really well at the start. Also, it is called Triangle now but Bermuda Triangle would be a better title.
9:00 Station 19
10:00 How to Get Away with Murder final season
In March American Idol airs 9-11 giving the affiliates a strong lead-in for their local news.

Mondays
8:00 Shark Tank/The Bachelor/Shark Tank
9:00 The Good Doctor- moves back to 10:00 when The Bachelor airs in January.
10:00 New Drama

Tuesdays
8:00 The Conners
8:30 Mixed-ish
9:00 Life in Pieces if CBS cancels it
9:30 The Kids Are Alright
10:00 The Rookie

Wednesdays
8:00 The Goldbergs
8:30 Schooled
9:00 Modern Family final season
9:30 New Comedy
10:00 NYPD Blue or other new drama

Thursdays
8:00 Grey's Anatomy
9:00 New Drama- GA should launch more new shows while it is still around. Station 19 and AMLT I have moved elsewhere.
10:00 A Million Little Things

Fridays
8:00 Fresh Off the Boat
8:30 Speechless
9:00 American Housewife
9:30 Black-ish
10:00 20/20- I really hope ABC doesn't take the lazy way and make 20/20 two hours permanently.

Saturdays
8:00 For the People- a way to keep a fantastic low rated show around without it dragging down a more important night.
9:00-11:00 Repeats/Movies

Dancing with the Stars gets sent to summers only along with Match Game.

Cancelled
DWTS Junior, Child Support, Single Parents, Bless This Mess, Whiskey Cavalier, The Alec Baldwin Show, The Fix

Grrr! For the People is cancelled after 2 seasons. Nothing like watching tonight's episode and seeing this announcement during the show. The only show from Shonda Rimes I like and the one that did the worst.

ABC sucks. TKAA barely got promoted all year, almost all their other freshman shows got more. And TKAA kept most of its audience despite going to a lot weaker lead-in. I hope ABC does really terrible next year.
