Default Geri Jewell on Sesame Street (1985)

Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four, Part Five.

Here's Geri talking about behind the scenes of the episode.

The episode apparently aired in 1985, according to the GLAAD website.

I think she must have obtained it from CTW herself. There are no signs of any VHS glitches, so it wasn't recorded on television from the 1985 airings.

But I don't know that anyone could obtain it from the archives. No one has ever been able to see the infamous episode where Margaret Hamilton guest starred as The Wicked Witch of the West and TERRIFIED millions of children all across the country for one hour in 1976. Only a few photos survive as proof that it even happened.

But as I understand it, the CTW has actually been defunct for years now. So I don't know how she got it, but that's amazing that she did. Although, it is interesting to note she only has her clips in those uploads; maybe she was not granted the full episode, but her "street segments" only.

Well, what was preserved in 1976 is very different than what was preserved in 1985. 4,500 episodes of Sesame Street will be digitized this year, and 381 were already done.

It was just rebranded under the name Sesame Workshop: the same executive producers that founded CTW in the 1960s head SW: Joan Ganz and Lloyd Morrisett.

No, I mean SS has held onto EVERYTHING they made and gladly dipped into its archives. But this is one rare instance where NOTHING of it has been available. Which is a real shame, because it would be so wonderful now to see it since it such a major, odd crossover.

And I heard about the digitizing a couple of months ago, but what good is that if they're not available online? Only a small percentage of people will be able to see them in New England.

Uh, that's Joan Ganz COONEY, Mister. Would you say "Sue Weaver"* or "Julie Haddock"? I think not.

*(Mrs. Garrett's ODD one-time usage of "Sue Weaver" on the phone notwithstanding)
