I never really got into Columbo.
Monk, on the other hand, is a great series. |

I on the other hand prefer "Columbo." I religiously watched every episode. On the other hand, the one time I made an effort to watch "Monk," I couldn't make it past the introduction. And the villains on "Columbo" can't be beat.

Monk's a great show but I'm with Columbo, too.

This isn't even close - Monk. Not only do I like it more than Columbo but it's one of my all-time favorite TV series.

You see Sir, it's Columbo, despite the current standings of the poll.

Monk. Every single episode of Columbo is exactly the same. Everyone knows who the murderer is 3 minutes into the show. Columbo has zero mystery and zero suspense.

But the whole suspense is how the murderer trips himself or herself up. Forget the 90s remakes which were a mistake.

I will admit that I like the actual character of Columbo better than Monk. But Columbo was too long and dragged, especially the 2 hour version when it returned.

Besides the character of Monk himself, I also loved the supporting cast. Ted Levine as Capt. Leland Stottlemeyer, Bitty Schram as Sharona Fleming, Monk's nurse/assistant in the first two and a half seasons, Traylor Howard as Natalie Teeger, Monk's second assistant joining in mid season three, Jason Gray-Stanford as Lt. Randy Disher, as well as the recurring presence of Monk's therapist, Dr. Kroger (played by the late Stanley Kamel).
