Before Edgar was Captain Jack and Uncle Billy he was wonderful in 1941 Penny Serenade as Apple Jack bathing and diapering a baby for Irene Dunne. Great actor!!

Buchanan had character roles in several sitcoms. He played a cantankerous hermit in Dennis the Menace.

Yes!! Petticoat Junction is one of my all time favorite shows!

" There's a little hotel called the Shady rest at the Junction! It is run by Kate come and meet her guests at the Junction ! And that's Uncle Joe he is moving kinda slow at the Junction! PETTICOAT JUNCTION" !!

And I love in the opening when Bea snaps one of Uncle Joe’s suspenders to wake him up. She was amazing. God Rest Her Soul.

I also remember a white haired Edgar in a more serious role as Arizona Sheriff Glenn Ford's deputy in one of my favorite but short lived shows, "Cade's County". He was still amusing but not the comedic guy he was in most all other roles. Another great old guy who makes every series he's in, just like Williams Frawley & Demarest and other old dudes I can't think of right now.
