From Dollymania.net:
Dolly graces the cover of British music magazine NME for the first time in her career this week, and the cover interview marks what I believe is the first time she addresses health concerns with her husband following recent tabloid reports – which are usually greatly exaggerated but based on a grain of truth – of alleged near-death illness. She confirms in the interview here that Carl Dean's ill health is the cause for why she has put any thoughts of a tour on hold for the near future, instead focusing on projects where she is "gone hours and days not weeks and months . . . I want to be close to home with him." She added she is considering putting together a one-woman show similar to Bruce Springsteen's recent stripped-down part-concert/part-storytelling Broadway engagement or may accept an invitation or two for festival gigs. She also said she wants to record "uplifting" music which will dictate which producer she wants to use for her next album. |

I'm sorry to hear about her husband's health, but I would absolutely love if she someday did a one-woman show like Springsteen on Broadway. That was such a unique and intimate experience to have with such a legend, I can only imagine the type of show Dolly could work up.

I think this story is a trifle exaggerated. I'm sorry for anyone who is ill or who has a loved one in a state of ill health, but she is in a position to employ a round the clock nurse should she so choose and at seventy-three years of age she's unlikely to be touring for months on end.

She's not really an artist who has a history of touring for months on end, anyway. But she could definitely get out there and do small tours or a residency somewhere if she wasn't dealing with her husband's poor health. |

![]() I applaud her and respect her even more that she wants to be near her husband. Family first. I was so fortunate to have been able to see her in concert once. It was on her “Better Day World Tour” in 2011. Awesome show!! If she ever comes close to me again, I’m definitely going! |
