so many 50's 60's tv shows had a maid, cook ... helper for the stay at home mom ...

now moms work and can't afford such a person

There was Alice on THE BRADY BUNCH. (once on CHEERS Carla asked "If the Brady bunch crashed in the Andies who would they eat first?" And Woody said
"Probably the maid cause she's not kin."

Rochester is the king and the GOAT of tv butlers/valets/cooks/etc.

Eddie Anderson was hilarious, and always outsmarted Jack in the end.

When someone mentioned Alice, I immediately thought one meant the Linda Lavin show . But it seems one meant the character Alice on the Brady Bunch. As for help, Danny Thomas on Make room for Daddy had a helper ?? Isabel Randolph can't recall if that's the actresses name. , Andy Griffith had Aunt Bee. The Cartwrights of Bonanza had Hop Sing.

While Aunt Bee did the cooking, she was family and not a paid servant.
