Default Do you think Jack's Bistro should have been eliminated once the Three's a Crowd era

started?

I mean if Jack was around all new characters and none of the TC characters was added to the show like Felipe or Larry, why still have Jack's Bistro on the show. Couldn't they have jack open a new restaurant in the beginning so that it would be no more links to Three's Company??

Jack's Bistro made both versions of the show look poor. The set was bad and Jack and EZ ran the whole restraunt by themselves. Just beyond stupid.

Definitely not. There were many hilarious scenes in Jack's Bistro. In fact the carryover effect only peaked interest in TC fans because because there's still a connection to the old show.

At least it did for me. But nothing could've saved this show. It was never going to live up to TC. I thought it was fine but John obviously wasn't satisfied. I'm shocked he was offered 13 more episodes but turned it down!

Didnt he something like......"i;m at the age now where I don;t play this type of games and if you are not offering a full season then I will move on"

Am I correct?

I never heard that quote but maybe he said it?? You should other knowledgeable TC fans.

Why I'm shocked John turned it down is because he was suddenly unemployed. Turning down 13 episodes is flushing $650,000 down the toilet! That's assuming he still made $50,000 an episode but maybe it was even more by now? All the more reason not to quit!

I know John already had millions but the Hollywood/rich/famous lifestyle can be very expensive. He never knew what type of financial problem may come up in the future so TAKE the $650,000 already!!

True, I am thinking I heard him mention that on the THS of TC and may have to watch it again. But maybe he felt like he was well established enough as a actor at that time to not accept a half of season commitment. Like with me, I feel like at this point of my life I don't have to accept a part-time job because of the people who I met and built relationships with over the years and all my experience. So maybe John was like I am going to be fine and preferred a full season or he is moving on. Now of course if you are young and just starting out a 13 episode offer sounds pretty good lol

I saw the E! True Hollywood Story of TC but I don't recall him saying that but maybe I missed it.

I saw it like 20 years ago!

I always heard that the real reason TAC was canceled was because ABC acquired Different Strokes from NBC, so ABC needed to cancel a show and TAC was it. I'm not saying it's true, just what I've always heard. Anybody know for sure?

Just watched it and he said this

"we were on the fence, the show was picked up, then it was not picked up, then I think it was picked up for like 13 shows".

But he didn't say what I thought he said, I think that was another actor lol

Yes that was the reason, just watched it. TAC finished #38 after the 1st season and they decided to have different strokes instead of giving TAC another season so it was cancelled

The irony was that last season of DS was pretty bad, and was canceled. I love TC and John Ritter, but TAC was garbage, mostly due to bad writing. Like the way Jack reacted to Larry on TAC. They acted like they haven't seen each other in years, despite the fact they lived 2 miles away from each other!! Horrible writing.

Just found that episode and it did air almost 2 years after TC ended. So maybe that's why he was so happy to see him.. Jack just mentioned he had not seen Larry in a year

I hope not. Jack’s Bistro would get more screen time with a bit improvance just in case.

But that's totally understandable because that's the very first appearance Larry made on this new show. So Jack's reaction was done for US, the audience, since that's the 1st time we saw Larry on TAC.
