One interesting trivia about Mr. Carlin was that, according to the late Marcia Wallace, the performer Jack Riley (in fact) had a full, thick head of hair yet was perfectly willing to have his character let himself be dissed for wearing a toupee to add to the character's humor and vulnerability.

How many performers would PREFER the audience think they were balding rather than pretend to be hirsuit and hide their scalp under wigs and toupees? Really, that took guts on Mr. Riley's part!

He was really a great character actor. He was on lots of sitcoms, but this was probably his best role.

He died in August, two years ago, age 80.
