I was just wondering do you think there should be a cut-off point as to when to respond to a very old comment, and when to create a NEW seperate topic about the same topic.
I forget where it was but not long ago I saw a thread from the year 2001 revived just for someone to say, "I agree!"

My philosophy is 99% of threads don't have an expiration date so there should be no limit. Most topics are timeless so it wouldn't be worth starting a new thread just because of age.

It's kinda hard to know what to do b/c some mods get annoyed if you revive a really REALLY old thread, but some get annoyed if you create a new topic when an older one already exists... My general rule is, if I can't find what I wanna discuss on the first 2 pages, I will create a new topic.
The only issue I'd have with ppl reviving a nearly 20 year old thread is the ppl involved in the original discussion are likely long gone, esp. if it's a heated debate and an old argument gets revived from almost 20 years ago lol It just seemed like the person may have been trolling to revive a 2001 thread to simply say, "I agree" lol |

I'll revive this thread in 15 years to give my answer.

I just posted in a thread that hasn't had a post in 8 or 9 years. There should NEVER be a limit!
Threads can be even MORE interesting the older they are! |

Most of the time a very old thread is revived it is a brand new member who is searching through old threads that are new to them.

Far worse to close off a thread with an inaccurate comment and simultaneously inhibit discussion.

I've been struggling to keep my thread on multi-band radios afloat.
