Default Harry and Penney

......were poor substitutes for Larry and Judy. Harry's claim to fame was wearing the Paul Revere hat, and Penney bragging about being in a horse show.

I don't even remember a Harry and Penney. Gilbert was Larry's main replacement.

They might have been giving Harry a tryout. He was in only a few episodes near the end of season 4, then he disappeared. He was a chubby kid like Larry, so maybe that was their thinking in trying him out.

I guess they decided Gilbert, Richard, and Whitey were enough characters to keep Beaver in trouble.

Penny lasted through season 5, and they shipped her off to Bellport. In the sixth season Beaver had several girls who gave him trouble. I agree, there was no one like Judy.

Yeah, Harry didn’t have a lot of lines. Was he Harry Harrison? Why not Harry Butler, Carter, Smith, Jones or Miller. I sort of liked Penny but Judy was the perfect blabber mouth and know-it-all. She thought she was the teacher’s pet but Miss Landers was wise to her. Judy matured faster than the others. Penny could be quite obnoxious.

There was one episode where maybe Gilbert (of all people) mentioned his named was Harry Harrison.

Maybe he could have been the lawyer's son, Harry Compton. When Beaver went to see him he could have said Harry recommended his dad (although that was before Harry's time).

I liked the doll carriage episode where Jean VP told Penny that there was a little gentleman to see her. She said, that's no gentleman, it's just the Beaver.

Yeah that’s right I think in the doll buggy episode Richard says “you don’t look so good Beaver, like the time Harry Harrison showed us where he had his operation.” Could be wrong and it was Gilbert. He should have been the son of George Compton.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right that Richard said that.

He had another similar line in the frogs episode, where it was something Angela Valentine had done.

Besides wearing the hat, the thing I remember Harry most for was in "The Dramatic Club" when Beaver gets the lead role and Harry plays the "Happy Burgermeister, whom everyone loves." He recited "Casey at the Bat" for his tryout.

At least Harry was nice enough to be a friend. Violet Rutherford was, too, sometimes, just not when she gave Beaver a black eye.

Linda Dennison was another nice girl. Ward and June should have tried to convince Beaver to give up on hating girls, when he was younger.

(Back to Harry--I liked his line when he had to get home to take his stomach rumblin' pills.)

So Harry would grow up to become a science fiction writer, even having his book Make Room! Make Room! adapted into the movie Soylent Green.
