"Master of Dark Shadows" Documentary to be Released on Blu-ray in April
"Dark Shadows" Documentary to be Narrated by Ian McShane
by Clark Collis Jan. 20, 2019 David Gregory has made documentaries about a slew of films and filmmakers, most notably 2014’s terrific Lost Soul, which detailed director Richard Stanley‘s travails on his big screen adaptation of The Island of Dr. Moreau. Now, Gregory has turned his lens on "Dark Shadows", the Gothic soap opera which starred the late Jonathan Frid as vampire Barnabas Collins and inspired the 2012 film of the same name. It has been announced that Gregory has wrapped production on Master of Dark Shadows, a feature documentary about the show and its creator, Dan Curtis. The film will feature interviews with cast members as well as "True Blood" creator Alan Ball and actors Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Steele, among others. Master of Dark Shadows is narrated by "Deadwood" and John Wick star Ian McShane and is set to be released this spring. https://ew.com/tv/2019/01/20/dark-sh...y-ian-mcshane/ |

January 24, 2019 by John Squires A listing on Diabolik reveals that Master of Dark Shadows hits Blu-ray on April 16. The release comes packed with over 1 hour of bonus features including a "Dark Shadows" set visit and additional cast interviews. Billed as a comprehensive celebration of the legendary Gothic daytime series and its visionary creator, the feature documentary Master of Dark Shadows (narrated by Ian McShane), which was shot in New York, LA and London, includes interviews with key actors and filmmakers involved in the undyingly popular story of vampire Barnabas Collins and all the eerie goings-on at the gloomy Maine mansion Collinwood. The documentary was directed by David Gregory (Lost Soul, Godfathers of Mondo). Master of Dark Shadows offers insights from Curtis himself in addition to Oscar-winning writer-producer Alan Ball (True Blood), screenwriter William F. Nolan (Trilogy of Terror), author Herman Wouk (The Winds of War), veteran actors Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost), Barbara Steele (Black Sunday) and Ben Cross (Chariots of Fire). "Dark Shadows" stars Jonathan Frid, David Selby, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Lara Parker, John Karlen, Nancy Barrett, Jerry Lacy, Roger Davis, Marie Wallace, Chris Pennock and James Storm, plus other colleagues and family members are also included. The documentary reveals the fascinating history, far-reaching impact and lasting appeal of "Dark Shadows" with a compelling blend of rare footage and behind-the-scenes stories while also exploring the dramatic talents of creator-producer-director Dan Curtis. Known as the “King of TV Horror,” the Emmy-winning filmmaker followed "Dark Shadows" with other iconic genre favorites including The Night Stalker, Trilogy of Terror and Burnt Offerings before earning accolades for the epic miniseries "The Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance". https://bloody-disgusting.com/home-v...blu-ray-april/ |
