Did anyone else think Lisa sung "No, New York is where I want to stay", instead of just "New York is where I want to stay as "The Hooterville Handbook" suggests?

Hmm, I haven't quite caught that one yet. I'll start trying to listen closer and see what I think.

I believe she's saying "New York is where I'd rather stay."

yea, I think that's right.
When I used to watch it in the 60s; I used to think she said "No, york is where I want to stay". |

I thought she sang "I'd rather" instead of "I want to".

Here's how the entire theme song sounds to me, going by having heard it so many times:
[Eddie] Green Acres is the place to be Faaaaarm livin' is the life for me! Land, speadin' out so far and wide Take Manhattan just give me that countryside! [Eva] New York is where I'd rather stay I get allergic smelling hay! I just adore a penthouse view 'Dahling' I love you, but give me Park Avenue! [Eddie]The chores! [Eva]The stores! [Eddie]Fresh air! [Eva]Times Square! [Eddie]You are my wife [Eva]Goodbye, city life! [Together]Green Acres, we are there! I'm working on a Hooterville/Petticoat Junction version using the same music. The first line would be: Sam Drucker's is the place to shop |

Looks good to me, except it's "keep" Manhattan.

Thank you, you are absolutely correct. I just heard the theme again last night, but neglected to get back until now to make the correction. Sorry about the error!

Hey, not a problem. I wish I could have remembered as much as you did from memory.

Vic Mizzy was a brilliant composer. The Green Acres theme is quite sophisticated. It was progressive, too, in that Mizzy used a fuzz guitar and bass harmonica in it. (Tommy Tedesco on the fuzz guitar, btw... per Mizzy)

I've read that the show's soundtrack was the first to use electronic music by way of a Maestro Fuzz Tone. |
