Has anyone who's seen this episode get the feeling that the story was taken from Hogans Heros? This episode was aired in 1969 Hogans Heros started airing in 1966.

I never really made the connection. I didn't watch Hogan's Heroes so that may have had something to do with it.
I like the way they use parodies of movie titles in a lot of their episodes. |

Two of the recurring characters on Get Smart (Seigfried and Shtarker) were thinly diguised Nazi's so it's not surprising that an episode involving those characters would bear a resemblance to Hogan's Heros.

It wasn't taken from Hogan's Heroes at all. It was a parody of the classic Steve McQueen movie The Great Escape. (1963)
