Writing error caught

I'm watching the episode "Archie's Brief Encounter" part 3 where Gloria comes to see Edith at the Sunshine home. The episode aired 9/29/76 and Gloria mentions that she's 50 and Edith quickly corrects her by saying "Not until next month."

Well the episode titled "Edith's 50th Birthday" didn't air for more than a year later on 10/16/77! I can't believe I never noticed this writing error before. Oops!

I’m sure there are more, but I must say, you have a keen eye for noticing. I’ve given up on sitcoms sticking literally with ages and timing of events etc. - it would distract me from really enjoying the show—so I take these things, when I notice them, with a grain of salt. My preference though, would be for there to be no “writing errors”.

As long as we’re on it, I hate it when the semi-regular actors are exchanged for new characters: for example, Was a cop in an early ep and then suddenly morphs into Barney.

Normally, I wouldn't notice these things, and haven't noticed this mistake until now after probably seeing the episode dozens of times already.

Since modern TV is a vast wasteland of crap, I enjoy watching 2 episodes of AITF each night on my DVD. So I guess watching repeatedly like I do makes you notice stuff you normally wouldn't if you wouldn't watch it as much.

And when I reach the end of the series, I start it all over again from the beginning. It's pretty much the only sitcom I can watch over & over and never get bored.

Barney being the cop early on and then the neighbor doesn't really bug me as much as the character Barney does. I don't know why Archie put up with that sniveling idiot.

I know what you mean about today’s shows, and I agree, I could watch AITF non-stop. But the shows I could get into watching non-stop right now are Leave It To Beaver and Bewitched.

I have the whole series of Bewitched on DVD and it's my "go to" show to pop in when there's nothing else to watch or Antenna TV is running one of their marathons i'm not interested in. I feel you can never go wrong with Bewitched or get bored of it, and I love Elizabeth Montgomery. (then again, I can't imagine anyone who doesn't!)
