Default Why isn't Grayson Allen playing for the Jazz?

Allen has received a DNP (did not play) in the Jazz first two games, including the game last night, a miserable one point loss to Golden State, a game the Jazz should have won but threw it away down the stretch in the 4th quarter. If Allen had played in the game, especially in the 4th quarter, it probably would have made a difference, Allen is an energetic player, but no the coach Quin Snyder kept him on the bench.

Allen played well in the pre-season, but now since the regular season has started, Allen isn't playing. Is Snyder making Allen pay his rookie dues, keeping him on the bench until he finally decides to put him in a game? Allen was the Jazz first round draft choice, he should be playing in the games and not sitting on the bench. I did see a comment in a news article where Snyder said Allen needs to work on his defense. LOL, that is an understatement, the whole team needs to work on defense, not just Allen, the defense has been terrible these first two games. In last night's game, the Jazz allowed their former teammate, Jerebko, to beat them. With time running out in the game and the Jazz ahead by a point, Kevin Durant missed a jumper and Jerebko tipped it in with three Jazz players surrounding him. Three Jazz players vs. one Warriors player, and the Warriors player tips in the missed shot. Absolutely atrocious defense. Rudy Gobert is supposed to be this great defender but he doesn't have the best athletic ability. Gobert sort of reminds me of Mark Eaton. Gobert has slightly better athletic ability than Eaton had, but not much.

Grayson Allen finally had some game action, played in the 3rd and 4th quarters in last night's loss to Memphis. The Jazz as a team played a terrible game, but when Allen entered the game he played with energy and provided a spark in an otherwise miserable game. Hopefully Allen's playing time will continue increasing as the season progresses.

Grayson Allen had a productive game for the Jazz last night vs. Dallas, scored 11 points in 13 minutes of playing time. Jazz won the game by a 113-104 score. Good deal. Next game for the Jazz is Wednesday night in Minnesota vs. the T-Wolves, that should be an interesting game.

The Jazz have been bouncing Allen back and forth from the G league team then back to the pro team. Allen hasn't gotten much playing time with the Jazz so far and the reason I've heard is because Allen needs to improve on defense, which is an excuse because the whole team needs to improve on defense, not just Allen. The Jazz have had trouble this year stopping anybody.

The Jazz seem to like bringing former players back. In 1995 they brought back Blue Edwards and that didn't work out, no championship. Then in 1999 they brought Thurl Bailey back and that didn't work out either, again no championship. Now this year they've brought back Kyle Korver and I doubt that will work out either. The Jazz have questionable management, sometimes I think they don't know what they're doing. I don't know if Grayson Allen is still in the Jazz plans or if they will trade him, as dumb as the Jazz are it wouldn't surprise me if they trade him and then he'll end up being a star for another team.

The Jazz are woefully unathletic, especially at the front line positions. Ingles, Favors, and Gobert all lack athleticism. This is wishful thinking, but if I could choose three players for the Jazz starting front line, I would choose Jimmy Butler, Julius Randle, and Karl Anthony Towns. Now THAT would be a nice starting front line.

The Jazz making the trade for Kyle Korver isn't a good sign for Grayson Allen, unless Korver gets injured I don't see Allen getting much playing time the rest of this season. Will just have to wait and see what the future holds for Allen.

Another player that I'd like to see play center for the Jazz is Anthony Davis, he's putting up nice numbers, averaging 12 rebounds and 28 points per game. Gobert will never average 28 points, he averages about half that much.

I mentioned Jimmy Butler, Paul George would also be a massive upgrade for the Jazz at small forward over Ingles.

Another dumb move the Jazz made is last year when they traded for Derrick Rose then immediately waived him. Now Rose is playing for Minnesota and putting up nice numbers.

In basketball there is a fine line difference between winning and losing. The Jazz got a win last night vs. Golden State with a balanced offense attack, no one had a huge game but six players had double figures in scoring. Since the Jazz currently don't have a big time scorer on the team, they have to do it as a group and get points from several different players in order to succeed. Donovan Mitchell has potential to be a big time scorer but he's still young and developing his game so will have to give him a few more years and see what he can do.

I'm more into college ball then the NBA, so I know Grayson Allen more from his Duke career then from whatever he's doing in the NBA. At Duke he was called by non Duke fans one of the most dirty players ever, but to be fair, non Duke fans always call Duke players the most dirty ever .

Allen's career at Duke was not without controversy, but he says he's put that behind him and entered the NBA with a clean slate. The Jazz were impressed with Allen during the summer tryouts so they drafted him, but his NBA career is off to a slow start, not getting much playing time. Allen is in his rookie year so will just have to wait and see what happens. The Jazz trading for 37 year old Kyle Korver tells me that they want an experienced shooter on the team while Allen is adjusting to the NBA.

Nice game for Grayson Allen last night, scored 23 points in 26 minutes of playing time in the win over Sacramento. His best game in the NBA so far. Hopefully this trend will continue, maybe Grayson is now getting adjusted to being in the NBA.

Jazz lost to the Clippers last night in the final regular season game, but Grayson Allen scored 40 points and that's pretty awesome.
