How old are Ward and June - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Do they ever say?
I like to think that once Beaver is in high school, June goes back to school to get her masters and then does her thing as a second act.

They never mention their age but in 1957 when the series started Barbara was 42 (born in 1915) and Hugh was 48 (born in 1909). Wow I always thought they were in their late 30’s tops. So when the series ended Hugh was 54 and looked older and Barbara 48. Barbara seemed so young in ‘57 she looked about 32. They just seemed like thirty something in the early seasons.

Mrs. Mondello looked too old to have a child in grade school. She also had a grown son with a kid and a daughter in high school.

Yeah there've been several posts in older threads about 'too old' Mrs. Mondello. Larry was probably an "oops."

Ward was studying engineering in university when he was drafted in WW2. Assuming he was 22 at the time in 1942, he would have been 37 in 1957.

In reality Hugh was 48 in 1957 (which I know wasn't the subject of this thread).

I don't remember him saying he was studying at university when he was drafted. Where does he say this?

I was talking about Hugh not Ward. I don’t believe Ward was drafted he seems like the type of guy who would sign up as a Seabee. Yes stevea this is the thread to talk about age.

IIRC in the episode where Beaver brags about Ward's heroics in WWII, Ward explains (I think) to Beaver that his talents or training were in engineering, but I don't recall any talk about his university study subjects (we know he went to State and was an Alpha Kappa, but that's about all we know, other than his having some pull up there).

in the still the beaver reunion movie there is a scene showing wards grave and it says that warf was born in 1910 and passed away at age 67 in 1977 so it seems that ward cleaver passed away at a fairly young age

An "oops" , I like that!!!

For sure a change of life baby!! But the cool thing is Larry really looked like her, even though she was an older lady, she looked like he could really be her Son!!

Madge Blake was phenomenal as Mrs. Mondello. The exchanges between the two are classic. I can’t think of anyone else who could do that role. Her voice was so cheerfully pleasant and the running gag about Mr. M was genius.

Yes she was perfect for the role. It's a shame she had to leave the show due to Rusty Stevens leaving (darn that real life mother of his!).
