Default Facts of Life scripts

'80sSitcoms was asking me about the FOL scripts that I have; he was specifically asking about "Dope" because he realized the character Gail went nameless in the broadcast version of the show. Here are the scripts I currently own:

Season Zero
The Girls' School

Season One
IQ [Second Revision, with extra scenes]
IQ [Final Revision]
The Slumber Party (DS)
Overachieving
Dieting
Emily Dickinson
The Facts of Love
Flash Flood
Golden Cavities (Teaser)
Romeo and Juliet (Teaser)
Clones (Teaser)
Running
Molly's Holiday
Dope
Homework (Teaser)

Season Two
The New Girl, Part 2
Teenage Marriage, Part 1
Teenage Marriage, Part 2
Breaking Point [transcript only]
Bought and Sold [partial script only]
Gossip

Season Three
N/A

Season Four
A Royal Pain

Season Five
The Halloween Show

Season Six
N/A

Season Seven
The Facts of Life Goes to Venice

Season Eight
N/A

Season Nine
N/A

I take requests, and am happy to post most of these in "The Group".

Your wish is my command! I was going to save it for Christmas, as the script date shows that it was filmed right before Christmas 1979, but since it's officially Christmas season now, I guess it wouldn't hurt to reveal it a little early, as a special Christmas surprise.

It's an odd little script. I believe it was meant to be a cold open or closing sting for another episode, if the episode ran short. Ultimately, it wasn't used, though it might have been taped.

Oh, whenever you want is fine---I have still "Gossip" and "Running" to get to!

Okay, per your request, "Molly's Holiday" is now posted in "The Group"; it's the version of the script with the alternate ending, and the one that gives more insight Cindy's family life, so I know you'll enjoy it! Merry (early) Christmas!

I definitely will... once you have the time to read the scripts I've already posted!

It's a script I never expected, and didn't know existed. (And there are others, like that, too.)

Very short, indeed!

Once I started collecting scripts, I really started to realize that FOL was always a work in progress. Lines were cut or added, even on the day the episode was taped; scenes were cut, sometimes even after taping; and some scenes, and even entire scripts, never made it to broadcast, and definitely not DVD.

"Homework" is a good example of a "lost script", but there are definitely others; one such "lost" script was even posted here on these boards many years ago. I'm in the process of tracking it down.

We who have seen the completed episodes countless times tend to get in the mindset of "this is what happened in the episodes", forgetting that there are entire storylines, scripts, characters, character names, important lines, etc., that we never knew: an Alternate Facts Reality.

There is, I'm sure, an Alternate Facts Reality where Nancy had a decent number of lines; where Sue Ann visits Wichita for the summer; and where Cindy's original last name is revealed. There's even an Alternate Facts Reality where we meet Molly's mother.

You are teasing me!! I don't have to wait to print out a "very short, indeed!" script, I'd go online to that in a heartbeat! lol

Yeah, I've largely realized those aspects of shows, but I just hadn't thought about actual scripts that didn't make it.

Haha...ikr?? I was stunned when watching this as an adult and seeing that Molly's mother, Mrs. Parker, never made it onto the screen. I mean, we were set up and teased to see her! --- Mrs. Garrett: "And Molly's mother makes foouuuurr!"---that was the commerical lead-in line, whetting our appetites to see the "Clash of the Parkers" when Molly's mother walked through the door---but she never did!

I would never tease you! At least not seriously. I'm just trying to get you to read the scripts I've already posted, so we can discuss them at GREAT LENGTH! I am dying to discuss them with someone who will treasure them as much as I do, but the most I can get is, "I'll read them later" or "It was cool"-type comments.

You didn't print the others yet? *sniffles*

Well, then, get ready to have your socks knocked off when you read "Molly's Holiday"!

I haven't, yet. Is that the next one you'd like to see, Lorimar? (I think you guys might be interested to see the "new" character who never made it off the script).
