I can't believe her remains were found the same year she went missing and it took this long for someone to think that the remains found in Alabama might be her. Glad that it's solved but can't believe it took that long.

Yay for DNA, but I totally agree. I wonder why it took so long for them to decide to test her...

Wow. Glad there's some closure for this one, but damn, one has to wonder what took so long for them to do a DNA test?

It's disappointing that the family had to wait this long but I'm happy they'll finally have the answers they craved.
On a happier note, I continue to be amazed over how many UM cold cases are being solved in the last few years. All these cases that I first viewed as a child and continued to wonder about as the decades passed...and all of the sudden, they're solved. |

Right? I said to my spouse yesterday that it’s been like Oprah’s in charge of missing persons/John and Jane Does after reading about the identification of one of the victims of the UpStairs Lounge Fire.

You'd think you'd be safe getting a ride from a husband and wife duo. You just cannot trust anyone.

I'm happy that the family has closure, but also angry about the crank call that the family received about Mary Ann still being alive. What kind of sicko would give a worried family that kind of hope? I wonder if it was the girlfriend that called to mess with them, but I don't know if she'd been released at that time.
I do wonder though, was it also the girlfriend that called that night pretending to be a friend? Did they get the number from a phone book? |

I kind of figured the girlfriend called to help buy them time before a search started. Then again, this was 1976 and you had to wait an eternity before the police would get involved on a missing person case. So, I'm not sure. |
