Hamilton Camp as BART FURLEY

Hamilton Camp appeared as BART FURLEY in just 1 episode; Season 5 episode "Furley vs. Furley". I think Camp played the role perfectly. Do you think he should have been brought back for more episodes?

Yeah, he was the ideal Bart Furley. It was hilarious how he kept mispronouncing Jack's last name!

They could've even brought him for a role in 3's a Crowd because that show needed help. Sadly he's passed on too.

Most of the adult TV stars we saw in the 80s seem to be gone now!

I can see what both of your are saying. I think that actor did a great job of playing Ralph's brother. It would have been nice if they had invented ways to bring him into one or more future episodes. On top of that, it got mentioned throughout the series that Bart had a wife, an undisclosed number of children and a dog. Maybe they could have found ways to bring them into future episodes as well.

The wife would have to be awfully short because Camp was 5'2". Or to make it funny they could've made her really tall!

I see what you mean. There are a lot of funny things that they could have done with that!

Oh yeah. Bart should've definitely come back. And really no excuse for him not to...Ralph constantly refers to him.

Chrissy's beefy boyfriend Elmo was another character who would've been fun to see again, just because he was so funny.

Sometimes the side characters stole the show.

What about Terri's friend who was a nun. She was in the sixth season. Do you think that bringing her back would have been a good idea?

Hmm...Nothing against that character, but it was kind of a one-joke situation (she was a progressive nun and Jack worried she was leaving the church for him). Since that was cleared up at the end, I can't see where else that joke could've gone. If she'd been more of a traditional nun her character would've had broader comic potential. Bart Furley had tons of potential as a villain and Elmo could've been funny as the one character dumber than Chrissy.

I think they didn't bring Bart back because Ralph was supposed to be the "heavy," but RF ended up more the trio's friend than anything.

Did you guys see Hamilton Camp as Mr.Wainwright in Too Close for Comfort? He played Ted Knight's rich, arrogrant, condescending boss. He was in several episodes and was even BETTER in that role!

Too Close for Comfort is most under appreciated show in sitcom HISTORY! It's one of the top 5 funniest shows EVER yet most people haven't even heard of it!

If you guys haven't seen it you REALLY should. The first 3 to 4 seasons are as good or BETTER than any sitcom EVER!!

I was just going to mention he was Mr Wainwright on Too Close for Comfort but you beat me to it. He actually only played Mr Wainwright in the first season then Mr Wainwright was only spoken of until the fifth season when a different actor Graham Jarvis played him that season. Sadly, he’s passed away also.
