Default Why was Louie Anderson replaced on Family Feud?

A mystery of the game show world I have never figured out is why Family Feud replaced Louie Anderson in 1999/2000 with Richard Karn? Was it because the Family Feud producers wanted to give Louie Anderson a bigger salary and tried to make him extend his contract on Family Feud but Louie refused and replaced by Richard Karn instead? It's really a surprise that Louie Anderson hasn't been offered to host another game show since Family Feud and is now focusing on sitcoms now and Louie should one day host another game show to jumpstart his game show career and be a Comeback Kid to the game show world again

It could’ve been that his contract might have expired.

It was probably a matter of ratings. But I'll always remember his closing line "Be good to your family."

I don't know why Louie Anderson left but am glad he did. Richard Karn and John O'Hurley are my favorite Family Feud hosts.

I really wish that Buzzr would show the Karn and O'Hurley versions.

They used to be popular on GSN- until Steve Harvey came and took over the network.

His contract expired and he did not want to renew it, its as simple as that. Louie Anderson is a comedian by trade and has always mainly focused on stand up or sitcoms. His newest show "Baskets" is incredibly popular and I highly doubt he would want to return to game shows, the pay isn't there compared to an emmy nominated series.

I liked Louie Anderson as a Family Feud host ! After that Family Feud got really boring IMO! I thought Richard Karn was horrible and John O'Hurley was OK, he's nice looking. But I don't think he was that good of a Family Feud host! Neither is Steve Harvey!

Richard Dawson, Ray Combs and Louie Anderson , than after that the show should have just went off the air IMO!!

I also vaguely remember some sort of scandal involving Louie and a man who was allegedly extorting money from him around the time of his replacement. I believe Louie took the man to court and the man went to prison?

Yes a gay lover, not that there is anything wrong with that. Not sure if the outcome of it.

He will be interested soon enough. Baskets won’t last forever. He will do another Game Show or Bad Reality Show eventually.

Louie Anderson will be recurring on a TBS sitcom plus his Baskets role, I doubt he will have time to host game shows again as well.

I've heard about that...the news was revealed between 1997 and 1998.

Louie Anderson got fired because of his off camera attitude
