Yes, the Molly Parker Cinnamon Bun Edition™!

It features:
  • A classic special edition DVD cover (shown above)
  • Bonus footage of the S1 cafeteria, including never-before-seen clips
  • In-depth interviews about the cinnamon buns from cast and crew*
  • 10 candid photos of Molly on the set, posed various ways while eating cinnamon buns
This was a pretty rare find; it was only offered in-store in Paramus, New Jersey.

*Nearly every cast member was interviewed for the Special Edition DVD. Unfortunately, Molly Ringwald herself was unavailable for comment.

I have posted this before, but this is a longer version, with a few more details.

It's an AP article from September 5th, 1980, well before the November 1980 table reading of "The New Girl, part 1". The date is significant, because it reveals when the announcement of the trimmed cast was revealed to the public. It also doesn't say anything about Molly being kept on, and is very clear that only three original girls were being kept on.

"Charlotte Rae, a short chunky divorced chunky divorced comedienne"

Poor Charlotte, they really hammered home that "chunky" and "divorced"!

(winking because obviously it was a mistake in copy, lol)

Good find!

And look Retro, they made sure to include for you there would be NO classroom scenes that season! lol...but saying that makes the headmaster role expendable makes no sense; the headmaster is the headmaster---he can go anywhere on campus!

Also, they were looking for a young Woody Allen-type comic for a young male cook? Wow!

Also interesting they said the "all-purpose room" (a.k.a. "lounge") would be "over the cafeteria", and Howard was, according to this, a "caretaker"! Was the cafeteria in an old dilapidated haunted Victorian mansion on misty moors?

By the way, did I mention that they said Ms. Rae was "chunky" and "divorced"??

Yep! Haha.

And what's worse is that there are different versions of this article, including some where they edited parts of the article out. But all versions I've seen have kept the "chunky divorced chunky divorced" error!

Seriously? Did nobody catch that, even when the article was edited multiple times!?

YEP! You're exactly right. And then they stuck a headmaster in "Gossip" anyway, as if they realized partway through, "Hey, '80s is right! The headmaster could go anywhere on campus!"
