Default The girls' names --- too many "ee"s!

Why did the creators/writers give so many of the girls names that end in the "ee" sound?? It's a bit much.
  • Nanc"EE"
  • Cind"EE"
  • Moll"EE"
  • Natal"EE"
  • Toot"EE"

The only girls in season 1 who have different-sound-ending names are Blair and Sue Ann; which is a relief, with so many "EE"s around. There were even Tump"EE" and Emil"EE" and Kedg"EE"!

Heck, even the staff had Mr. Bradl"EE" and Miss Mahone"EE"! lol

At least after season 1 it's a bit better with only half of the girls (2) having "EE" names, with the other 2 being Blair and Jo. And sometimes they did call Natal"EE" "Nat"; which, isn't that great a nickname, as it can make one think of a "gnat", lol, but I digress, lol.

Even minor characters coming along were Ger"EE", and Terr"EE" and Jenn"EE". But then we did have others like Alison and Brenda.

But when they created the show, why couldn't they have thought of some other non-"EE" names for Eastland girls to balance things out better? Why couldn't they have named any of the girls non-"EE" names like "Jennifer" or "Laura" or "Nina"?

Oh, wait...

Haha!

I recently read an article that showed the most commonly-used last letters in girls' names is (of course) A, followed by E, N, and Y. Since most of the Es and Ys (not to mention I's) would result in an "ee" sound, and those two letters are 30% of the name endings for females, there are just going to be a lot of "ee"s.

Laura, Nina, Alexandra, and Edna help round out the A's.

Interesting note on the article.

Susan, Sharon, Heather, Jessica...there are other nice non-"EE" options! lol

Well, it would be a very different show if Susan came rolling in on her skates, while Sharon cracked jokes, Heather talked about Kansas City, Kansas, and Jessica bragged about her brilliant ideas...

See?? Variety is the spice of life!

Too bad "Jennifer" and "Laura" got lost!

By the way, I realize the irony in that I criticize those in the documentaries for saying there were "too many girls!", and here I am in my subject title saying "too many 'EE's!"

Hahaha! HAHA!

Yes, well, Laura and Jennifer would have made the cast more phonetically diverse, that's for sure!

Hahaha!

Sue Ann's looking like, "Why would he say that? This is a girls' school, after all."

Nancy's look says "O Rly?"

Even DeJanine looks skeptical!

(Watch out, DeJanine! You'll be the first banished to the basement! )

Haha!

And maybe:

Sue Ann: "Really? We have even more girls back in Kansas City!"

Nancy: "Oh Mr. Crocker, there aren't so many girls here that any of us would turn into wallpaper!"

(Oh, Nancy...Nancy, if you only knew!)

And the girl in red is reading his word balloon!

Oo, I just realized something...

NancY, CindY, MollY, NatalIE, TootIE...

If your name does NOT end in "ee" in season 1, you're guaranteed to be one of the front-burner characters! BlaiR and Sue ANN! lol
